The CZW Cage of Death Internet PPV, which I thought was a great show live, is now available for replay buys. For more, visit CZWrestling.com.
Tommy Dreamer was at the ECW Arena today doing a seminar with CZW talents. He wrote on his Twitter that he was also "scouting them" but didn't specify for what. The seminar is the last scheduled event for the CZW Wrestling school, which will be moving out of the venue due to Joanna Pang buying the rights to operate the venue. CHIKARA has also moved their wrestling school out of the venue. The long term future of wrestling is still up in the air but DJ Hyde remains optimistic that CZW, at least, will have an ongoing presence in the venue. But, nothing is 100% confirmed.
The Leo Weekly, an alternative newspaper in Louisvilly, Kentucky, featured a long article on Ohio Valley Wrestling, which you can check out by clicking here. Thanks to Bedford Crenshaw for sending that along.
Jose Perez sent the following....There was another article published today "Primera Hora" newspaper here in Puerto Rico. The title of the article is: "Limpios los luchadores de aqui" (Local wrestlers are clean). In the article it goes over the annual filing process that each performer has to go through in order to get licensed, which includes HIV and Hepatitis C tests amongst other requirements. They also explain the process for a wrestler outside of PR to be able to get licensed here before they are able to work. Right now, the "Boxing, Cock-fighting, Security and MMA Commission" (Comisiones de Boxeo, Gallos, Seguridad y Artes Marciales Mixtas) has the oversight of wrestling locally. In the article it is explained that they are working on putting together a Wrestling Commission that will oversee it starting this January 1st, 2012. The piece was a follow-up to their coverage of the Abdullah the Butcher Hep C lawsuit that was mentioned yesterday.
Abby's story has been given a lot of attention here in the island due to his longevity here. Of all the wrestlers that have campaign here in PR over the last 30 years, nobody has had the impact that Abby has had. I say that having in mind that over the years we have seen the likes of Ric Flair, Harley Race, Andre The Giant, Dusty Rhodes, Dory and Terry Funk, Stan Hansen, Kane (in his beginnings)... and so many others. However, nobody other than Abby has been mainstay when you look at the amount of times they spent in the island and/or take into account the amount of visits. Abby always came in and out of the wrestling picture here in the island and over the years that constant coming in, working a program, leaving for 4 or 5 months and coming back for another run, leaving again... so on an so forth, is what kept him always fresh and his character evolved as time passed.
