LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST WWE BY SEATTLE CITY EMPLOYEE CLAIMING PERSONAL INJURY DUE TO FALLING OBJECT DURING SET-UP OF RAW TAPING

A personal injury lawsuit was filed against WWE as well as NEP Broadcasting, Screenworks LLC, Event Services Inc. (ESI), Supershooters LP and another defendant, Neil Broome, in the United States District Court of Washington on 11/15.

Plaintiff Shane Hawley, who was working a 2/14/09 WWE Taping at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington as "an employee of the city of Seattle" claims that negligence on the part of Broome, who was working at an elevated location in the venue during the set-up process of the event, caused a metal object to fall 40-50 feet and strike Hawley, "causing serious personal injury." Hawley's suit does not note in what capacity he was working for the city at the taping.

Hawley's lawsuit claims:

*The defendants failed to provide a "safe place to work and/or ensure that the Key Arena was reasonably safe for workers."

*The defendants failed to "reasonably train and supervise their employees and/or agents regarding workplace safety."

*Defendants WWE and ESI "failed to ensure that the businesses they contracted to help" prepare the Arena were "reasonably trained and supervised."

*The Defendants failed to comply with safety regulations, rules and standards designed to protect workers at job sites.

*Defendants WWE and ESI "failed to ensure that their subcontractors working on the jobsite" were in compliance with industry safety regulations, rules and standards.

Hawley's lawsuit claimed that he suffered personal injuries, physical and mental pain for suffering, costs of medical case, loss of income, loss of earning capacity and other damages.

Broome, a Vermont resident, as at the event working on the construction of the venue's lighting and video screens, according to the complaint. He was not a WWE employee, but was working for one of the other defendants that were subcontracted by the company for the taping's construction.

WWE and the other defendants have not yet responded to the lawsuit.
