BROOKLYN BRAWLER IN THE WWE HALL OF FAME, WHY TNA HEELS WERE CHEERED IN PHILADELPHIA, WHY MORE COMPANIES DON'T UTILIZE VIDEO ON DEMAND AND MORE

Why don't companies utilize vod services on cable as a way to get
more exposure for TV shows or PPvs. It would allow companies like ROH, NWA
Hollywood, OVW and others to get weekly TV exposure (It would allow Philly
to again see ROH TV without having to watch it on computer). It would also
allow groups like ROH, PWG, Shimmer, JCW and tons of other companies an
opportunity to their@products to a brand new market. Even companies like
Highspots & Kayfabe Commentaries to make their shoot interviews available.
This seems like easy income for the companies, yet no one is jumping on
this. Why is this ?
There are several reasons for this.
One, the broadcast quality of some of the content might not be considered
worthwhile by the cable companies. Secondly, it's not easy to get a
Video on Demand clearance on all outlets. WWE still, to this day, has not
cleared their Video on Demand service on Time-Warner. All of the
companies you mention would fall over themselves to have a VOD deal, but the
reality is that unless you are part of a major corporation, you couldn't
even get a meeting to pitch it.
While I'm still waiting for the WWE to actually build a Hall Of Fame for
tours and nostalgia, what do you think about Steve Lombardi aka The Brooklyn
Brawler being inducted? I say yes. If they actually build a Hall of Fame they
could have a "Jobbers Wing" featuring Lombardi and Iron Mike Sharpe.
I can absolutely see Lombardi being inducted by the company one day. He's been working there since at least the mid 1980s full-time. There are lots of other names in there who would be far less deserving.
He wrestled for the company for many, many years and worked behind the scenes
through today. He's a valued member of the company.
I went to B4G this past weekend and all I gotta say is what the hell was
that? Not sure if I missed something during the Hogan match but he turned face
for absolutely no reason. It would have made sense if immortal jumped him after
the match for losing but I don't think anyone laid a hand on him. I'm so
confused. Please explain.
The storyline was that Sting appealed to
the good in Hogan and Hogan, much like the Grinch, had his heart grow five
times that day and turned good, saving him.
Also watching impact on TV with canned
cheering you would think Crimson, Matt Morgan, and Brain Kendrick are so over
but they each got pratcially booed out of Philly. Not sure if that came out on
TV but they had one of the biggest heat that night . Don't know if its because
Philly is a "heel town" but they got no love. Don't really have a question but
just putting out there that Crimson Matt Morgan, and Brain Kendrick really do
suck. Not so much Kendrick but most definitely Morgan and Crimson.
I think a lot of it had to do with who they were wrestling. Samoa
Joe was over big-time in Philly during his time in Ring of Honor.
Ditto Austin Aries. I have to think that it was partially because
Philly is such a heel town and also because the fans loved them for what
they've accomplished in the city.
I was
watching WWE SmackDown & they were tooting their own by claiming that their
show was now the 2nd longest running weekly episodic TV show (ahead of shows
like Gunsmoke, Lassie, & The Simpsons) & only behind WWE RAW, which is #1.
Now, in order to qualify, the show must be weekly (therefore you can't count
the news, talk shows, or daytime soap operas) & it must have episodes
(therefore you can't count game shows, or reality shows). Immediately it
got me thinking, so I did some research. According to WWE, SmackDown has
aired around 635 episodes. According to Wikipedia, NBC's Saturday Night
Live has aired around 706 episodes. As far as I am concerned, SNL does meet
both criteria as it is on once a week & it is scripted (like wrestling).
Therefore, how can WWE make this claim when SNL is ahead of SmackDown? Am I
missing something?
WWE manipulates the numbers obviously,
but in this case, SNL wouldn't count since WWE claims they are the longest
weekly running "primetime" series, which SNL clearly is not.
