So, I watch a lot of AAA Sin Limite every week on Comcast through Galavision. One thing I have noticed is the use of a LOT of famous/hit songs as theme music for the wrestlers including Michael Jackson's "Thriller" for L.A. Park and "Eye of the Tiger" for La Sociedad. How are they able to get away with this? Are copyright laws that loose with Mexico that they don't need to acquire rights & royalties for them, or have they in fact acquired the expensive rights to all of the music they use?
Copyright fees depend largely on use. With WWE and TNA, they have major viewership and thus the price will be higher to use music like that, and that doesn't take into account them doing PPVs and DVDs. If AAA started doing 1 or 2 ratings, I think you would see them stop using the music, provided that they are not paying the rights fees.
Is Christian "happy" with his storyline? Do you have any information regarding his reaction to his one night only World Title reign?
No one I talk to has told me that he said anything negative about the short reign, even when many of the fans were saying it for him. With that said, at least he is back in the title picture and a focal point of Smackdown. The situation could have been much worse. As long as he gets a good push, I think he will be happy.
If you had the chance to face Eric Bischoff in a match, what kind of match would you choose? I'm guessing the way you lay into some of his comments it would be an exploding barbwire match.
Just because I find Bischoff to be disingenuous and duplicitous does not mean I want to wrestle him. I know my place in the business and it's not in the ring. I would never subject any fan to that. My role is to analyze the business and examine what goes on it and what people say. If I ever take on Bischoff, it will be verbally, as it should be.
Do you think Randy Savage is a shoe-in for the 2012 Hall of Fame now? Or would WWE more likely put it off, out of respect for the issues he had with them before his death?
I think he will get in, for sure, now that he has passed away. I don't know if 2012 is the time though. If they decide to put The Rock in, while they are in his hometown, I think it would be better to hold Savage off a year so that his induction doesn't seem secondary.
On your q&a section recently, someone mentioned something about R Truth not being allowed in Canada. What is/was the reason behind this?
Killings has a record, which had prevented him from entering Canada until last month.
