WWE HALL OF FAMER BOB ORTON DISCUSSES RANDY SAVAGE, THE LEGACY OF PRO WRESTLING IN ST. LOUIS AND MORE

By Stephen Ground on 2011-05-29 22:29:00
Local St. Louis news KPLR 11 featured a seven or eight minute interview with "Cowboy" Bob Orton on their sports section today. They said this was in light of the fact that they ran "Wrestling at the Chase" marathons on their station historically on Memorial Day.

They covered a lot of subjects and mentioned a lot of names in a short interview. They showed Chase footage, and discussed Crusher Blackwell, the interesting dynamic of St. Louis' Chase Ballroom, the importance of the St. Louis territory, Randy Orton, and other subjects.

Most importantly, however, Bob gave his two cents on the passing of Randy Savage. They were a tag team for a while in International Wrestling All-Stars, and Orton commented on how beloved Savage was. He said he was "flamboyant... one of the best ever... gave his all every time he entered the ring, and fans loved him for it... we hate to see him go."

The host also called Savage one of the most imitated characters in wrestling history, prompting Cowboy to toss out his own Macho Man "Ohhhh yeah." It was a pretty interesting piece that I thought you might want to hear about.
