Mr. WrestleMania. A nickname synonymous with the Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels. We all know how great he is and the fact that he is just now being inducted into the hall of fame is a miscarriage of justice. However after careful consideration I think another superstar is deserving of this moniker more so than HBK. And that's Edge. Think about how many 5 star performances the Rated R Superstar has given us at the Show of Shows, TLC, Triangle ladder match, Money in the bank, and his match against Undertaker, all classics. You're thoughts?
Agreed, Edge has put together an impressive collection of Wrestlemania matches over the years. However, he hasn't had the "defining moments" that Shawn has had, like winning his first World Title, retiring Ric Flair, etc. Edge would be a contender for the title, but I think HBK still gets the nod of being "Mr. Wrestlemania."
Maybe it's just me, but do people really think
David Otunga can talk that well? To me, his delivery still seems
rather forced, overly dramatic and lacking in some essential manner that I can't
quite put my finger on. There may be some potential there, but to me his
mic skills aren't all that significantly less green than his in-ring ability.
I don't think he is a Rock or Ric Flair, but he also isn't a marbles mouthed
rookie either. I do think his mic skills are better than his in-ring
ability, but that isn't saying much, as he needs a lot of work in that
department.
Everyone seems to agree that WWE blew the John
Cena firing angle by bringing him back so soon, even though it was inevitable
that Wade Barrett would have him reinstated. My question is, do you think
WWE missed an opportunity to advance Cena's character? He's already
cheered by children and women, a character tweak could have made him more
appealing to the male demo that currently boos him. I feel WWE missed
their chance to do for Cena what WCW did for Sting.
They definitely missed an opportunity with that storyline. Fans who were
against Cena seemed to rally around him a bit more during that period, since
Cena was finally facing some adversity. Unfortunately, the
"Superman" push took over and Cena single-handedly came out on top,
basically returning us to where things were before Nexus attacked him.
With a new year approaching, the Hall of Fame
will be a hot topic of discussion for sure. With the next WM taking place
in Atlanta, that makes me of the old NWA days and from my "wish list",
I'm curious which (if any) of these names you might think has the best chance of
being inducted next year?
The Freebirds
The Horsemen (Ole, Arn, Tully, Barry)
The Midnight Express/Jim Cornette
Stan Hansen
Kevin Sullivan
Of the names you mentioned, I would give the Freebirds and Arn Anderson the best shot at getting in. I don't see the Horsemen going in as a group, given that Ric Flair is already in and Ole Anderson doesn't have a favorable relationship with WWE. Stan Hansen would be next on my list, given he appear at last year's ceremony to induct Antonio Inoki.
Are you shocked Hornswoggle still has a job in WWE?
A little, only because you would think his character would have a limited shelf life. That said, he is well liked in the company, and while a lot of his bits don't lead to much, WWE Creative continues to find roles for him on the shows.
