Has WWE banned the piledriver except for Kane and the Undertaker?
Pretty much. WWE doesn't want to see "head dropping" moves other than the tombstones, and while you might see them occasionally, it won't be a regular occurrence.
After hearing that "70% of the last 10 royal rumble winners went on to win at wrestlemania", it got me wondering, the last 3 winners, john cena, randy orton and edge all lost. Is this because for a long time WWE fans thought that winning the rumble would be a 100% guarantee that you would win at wrestlemania too, and WWE wanted to change that? Or just purely coincidence?
I would say it is coincidence, as in all three cases you mentioned, those wrestlers went on to win the WWE/World Title that year, just not at Wrestlemania. Part of me wishes WWE would do away with the "Rumble winner goes to Wrestlemania for a Title match" stipulation, since it pretty much guarantees you won't see a "shocking upset" and eliminates a lot of Rumble participants as potential winners.
Is it just me, or on the Jan 17th RAW when Cena said that him and Orton would be a
Wrestlemania level match did the crowd not seem all that excited for the match? I know the WWE thinks match ups like this sell WM, but is anyone really interested in seeing this match AGAIN? I know it has been a while, but still isn't it a little overdone at this point?
I agree, it is overdone, and I would be shocked if WWE went with Cena vs. Orton
at Wrestlemania this year. I think it was just Cena trying to put them
both over during the promo, and not a hint towards the future.
Why does the WWE feel that big names sell Wrestlemania rather then fantastic matches? In the last 5 or so years, besides one or two really well fought matches, Wrestlemania has been sold on big name verses big name. Usually the matches end up subpar anyway. I'd rather see stories drive the match, not excuses to put big names together. Your thoughts?
I think both are needed to sell a show like Wrestlemania. You need the big names to bring in the casual fans, who might not be totally up on all the current storylines. At the same time, you need a good storyline for those that watch Raw every week and want a reason to fork out more money than usual for another card of matches. That's why matches like Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker worked so well, because it had both the name value and the storyline to make the match important to all audiences.
How do you get presale passwords for live events? I am a ticketmaster member and on all the WWE sites, but I still have to get my presale info from you. The WWE has tickets going on sale Jan 22nd for the Raw in Miami after Extreme Rules but still I have not presale passwords. I have gone to every event they have run in South Florida for the last 5 years, you'd think I would be on some list by now right?
A lot of times, it is the arenas that issue the pre-sale passwords, not Ticketmaster or WWE. My suggestion is to check out the websites for the arenas in your area (since you are in Miami, the American Airlines Arena would be one), and if they have a mailing list, sign up for it.
