LAST BIG MAN TO WIN THE ROYAL RUMBLE, SHAWN IN THE HALL, TNA TITLE BELT AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2011-01-11 10:00:00
I don't usually order TNA PPVs but did watch the PPV on Sunday. Please tell me that's not their regular title belt? That thing is ugly.

The title belt Jeff Hardy had been carrying was specifically created for Hardy. I would suspect that TNA will go back with the older version sooner than later, although Anderson carried the Hardy version last night.

With Shawn being inducted into the Hall of Fame, is he the major headliner or do you think other big names will be used? I know you said Macho won't go in with Shawn, but would Vince be petty enough to put him in with Shawn to lesson the impact of him coming back? Who else could go in with Shawn and not be buried under the weight of the Heartbreak Kid being inducted with you?

I agree. I am under the impression that Michaels will close and headline the ceremony this April.

After doing so much around the wrestling business, what else is left on your "wrestling" bucketlist? Is there anything left to do? People you have never met? Interviews you have not been able to get but would still love to? Anything?

I've pretty much met everyone I ever thought would be interesting to meet and I've been at a lot of major events covering them. I've seen some amazing matches and interviewed some really interesting subjects. I guess my bucket list would be attending major shows in Mexico, Japan and Puerto Rico. Beyond that, I can't think of anything else I'd really like to see, other than talents like Adrian Adonis and Dick Murdoch honored in the major Hall of Fames.

For all of Big Show's talk, when was the last time a big man like him won the Royal Rumble? Big Show, Yoko, and Andre all went into Rumbles with the idea that "who could possibly throw them out?" "they have to be the favorite!". Yet I can't remember someone like them actually winning.

That would be Big John Studd in 1989, Yokozuna in 1993 and Big Show in 2000, plus you could make cases for Undertaker and Hulk Hogan.

When was the last time you can remember someone winning the Rumble as a springboard to the main event? It seems like in the last 5 or 6 years the winners have to be one of maybe 6 people (Cena, HHH, Orton, Edge, Jericho, Rey) that were already in the main event picture chasing the title. The rest are just jokes to the point where they come out and you can't honestly believe they will win.

Yokozuna comes to mind for one.
