The arena was pretty full tonight, unlike last night. I guess running on a Thursday night won't do too well in the Louisville market. Hopefully they'll run on a weekend, if they come back, so they'll have another full house.
Bobby Cruise announced that if you bring your ROH ticket the next night to OVW's big Saturday event, you'll save $3. Shortly after the count down is on to start the taping...
OVW Heavyweight Champion
"Mr Media" Cliff Compton vs. "Low Rider" Matt Barela
This is the matched that opened up the show. There was a very awkward moment towards of the end of the match where it looked like neither wrestler knew what to do next and they just stood there. Soon after that Matt Barela rolled up "Mr Media" to retain the OVW Heavyweight Championship.
Next we open the ROH on HDNet television taping with Jim Cornette interviewing the Kings of Wrestling and the All Night Express. This was designed to put over their match on iPPV in Chicago.
Lance and Harlem, the Bravado Brothers vs. Adam Cole & Kyle O'Reilly
The crowd was really into this match, the finish saw the Bravado Brothers win with a roll up.
The All Night Express vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team (Main Event)
Given this is a small arena, it's very easy to hear when one person yells. A funny moment came when a man yelled, "Where's Shelton's blonde hair?", and Haas without skipping a beat told the man, "He lost that with his contract". The World's Greatest Tag Team got the win after The Kings of Wrestling came to ring side and threw Kenny King into a camera man. After the match the camera man got a "he's hardcore" chant.
Cornette once again in the ring and is talking to Homicide. Cornette says everything that's in the past is water under the bridge and ever since he's returned to ROH he's noticed him winning every match he's been in and climbed the ladder in ROH. He then announces that at the new iPPV Homicide will take on whomever the current ROH World Heavyweight Champion is. Homicide tells him that he still doesn't trust Cornette and he'll walk out of Chicago as the two time ROH World Heavyweight Champion.
Homicide vs ???
Homicide picks up the win after hitting the Gringo Cutter. I asked some people around me, but no one knew who his opponent was.
ROH Television Championship
Eddie Edwards vs. Christopher Daniels (Main Event)
This match came to a 15 minute time limit draw, however, Edwards grabbed a microphone and said he didn't want to retain the belt like this and that he wants 5 more minutes. Christopher Daniels defeated Eddie Edwards in "over time" to become the new ROH Television Champion.
OVW Television Championship
Mohamad Ali Vaez vs. Christopher Silvio
A good chunk of people treated this match as intermission and went to the lobby to grab themselves some snacks. Mohamad Ali Vaez retained the OVW Television Championship.
Colt Cabana vs. Mike Mondo
Cabana won with a submission.
Roderick Strong w/Truth Martini come to the ring for Truth to cut a promo. He informs Roderick that he has found someone he thinks it capable of joining the House of Truth, but he still needs Strong's okay. Truth then brings out Mike Elgin and he joins them in the ring. Truth says they will team up against Christian & Alex (I believe that's their names that were announced). Elgan picks up the win for the team and Strong seemingly gives his approval.
Cornette comes out again and brings out Christopher Daniels and Eddie Edwards. Cornette puts over the match that they had previously and says that after their match he talked to them both and they pretty much both said the same thing. Daniels and Edwards take turns complimenting each other, both agreeing that they want a rematch with more time. Edwards suggest that they make it two out of three falls. Cornette agrees (although he doesn't set a date when this would take place), but is interrupted by Mike Bennett. Bennett takes the microphone and says he was tired of seeing all the compliments back and forth and that he wants to put them both on notice. The crowd interrupts him with a "you can't wrestle chant", which he just ignores. Bennett informs that regardless of who comes out as ROH Television Champion, that the winner will have to face him as 2011 is the year of Mike Bennett.
Taylor Hendrix (?) vs. Sara Del Rey
I'm pretty sure Taylor didn't even land a single hit on Sara. Needless to say, Sara picked up the win.
Grizzly Redwood vs. Mike Bennett
This was pretty much a squash match that saw Mike Bennett pick up the win
All Night Express & The Kings of Wrestling vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team & The Briscoes (Main Event)
Neither team wanted their partners to start off the match and there was a big argument to start the match. Both teams ended up flipping coins to see who would start the match for their teams. The match eventually broke down as both referees lost track of who was the legal man, The All Night Express lays out Chris Hero and walks out of the match leading to The Kings of Wrestling walking out of the match. Now both of the Briscoes and The World's Greatest Tag Team are in the ring arguing. Referees come into the ring and pull them apart, followed shortly by security. Really good angle to finish off what seemed to be the go home show for their iPPV.
Afterwards, the Briscoes cut a promo (much like Daniels on the previous night) thanking everyone for coming out.
Brian Paige added this report.
--OVW title match: Matt Barela over Cliff Compton (Domino).
--Cornette interviews the Kings of Wrestling, then the All Night Express come out. Basically it ends with Cornette naming King and Titus as the #1 contenders.
--Bravado Bros. over Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly in a terrific match.
--Haas/Benjamin over Titus/King, with the Kings of Wrestling tossing King into a cameraman in a crazy spot.
--Colt Cabana over Mike Mondo.
--Interview with Cornette and Homicide, Cornette mentions that Homicide will get a title match on Feb. 26, but Homicide still is wary of Cornette. Homicide then squashed a local guy (James Thomas from OVW?).
--Christopher Daniels over Eddie Edwards in an awesome match to win the TV title. They went to the 15 minute time limit, with Daniels almost having Edwards ready to tap. Edwards said he didn't want to retain that way, so he wanted 5 more minutes. Daniels won in OT with a double arm spike DDT. This burned out the crowd.
--OVW TV title match: Mohamed Ali Vaez over Chris Silvio.
--Roderick Strong and Mike Elgin (w/Martini) over Alex Silvia and some other guy in a squash.
--Interview with Cornette, Daniels, and Edwards. Both men want a TV title rematch with 30 minutes and 2/3 falls. Of all people Mike Bennett comes out wanting a shot at the winner.
--Bennett beat Grizzly Redwood. Bennett might have been the only guy on any of the shows that got the "You Can't Wrestle" chant.
--Sara Del Rey over Taylor Hendrix.
--Main Event 8 man tag: Briscoes/Haas/Benjamin vs. Kings of Wrestling/All Night Express went to a no contest. The Kings and the All Night Express argued the whole time, then finally it ended up with the Express attacking Chris Hero and leaving him laying. However, the Briscoes and WGTT couldn't agree on who should get the pin, pulling each other off of Hero. Eventually they fought each other, a bunch of refs came out, and it was thrown out.
