Former WWF champion Bob Backlund is beginning work on a book project. There's no timetable for any release and it's very, very early in the process.
Jody "The Assassin" Hamilton is working on a second book.
The official cover for WWE Rumble Road - Untold Stories from Outside the Ring has been released:
Kevin Sullivan's forthcoming book on WWE titles has been given a longer title, "WWE Championships: Sports-Entertainment's Most Coveted Prize Uncovered." The 320 page book will be released in hardcover form.
The official blurb on Bruce Hart's forthcoming memoir, "Straight from the Hart" reads, "In this thrilling memoir, the first son of wrestling steps out from behind the shadows of Calgary’s fabled “Hart dungeon†to discuss his family and the cutthroat world of professional wrestling. Stories about growing up as Stu Hart’s son and the brother of wrestling legends Bret “Hitman†Hart and Owen Hart offer insight into this wrestling dynasty and the close relationships with people such as Andre the Giant and Killer Kowalski. Detailing the rise of the family business and how it was destroyed by Vince MacMahon, how the tragic death of Owen rocked the family, and what really happened behind the scenes of the infamous “Montreal screwjob,†this gripping tell-all also provides information on how wrestling should be booked and the toll steroids and other drugs have taken on those close to Hart. The perfect book for fans, this account is chock-full of inside-the-ring stories and wrestling gossip."
Over the course of the last week, I was made aware of several lesser-known wrestling books that had been published in recent months, so wanted to mention them here:
"Gate to Gate" by Chicago-area manager PL Myers features Myers' story of moving from fan to performer, including working for PCW in Chicago. The book features a foreword by Bobby Heenan. For more details, click here.
"Blood, Tables and Chairs" by Dennis McHawes, who was trained by Harley Race and wrestled for Race's WLW. From what I've read about the book, it's something of a look at the inside of the business from a wrestler on the independent level. You can check out more by clicking here.
"Behind The Curtain: The Inside Story of a Professional Wrestler" by Scrapyard Dog, a North Carolina-area independent wrestler who was trained by Manny Fernandez, discussing his experiences in the business at click here.
The official release date for the Mickey Rourke biography "Wrestling with Demons" is 9/16. No word on how prevalent his comeback role as Randy the Ram will be in the book, but one would figure it would have to be a featured part of the biography.

Revealing riveting stories about his participation in the 1980s and 1990s superstar wrestling team the Road Warriors, it recounts memorable fights with his partner Mike "Hawk" Hegstrand. He describes how he and Mike rose to become a revolutionary tag team—reinventing themselves with spiky accessories and wearing face paint before it was popular—and chronicles famous rivalries, movement between different wrestling associations, and dealing with Mike's longtime struggle with drugs and alcohol.
