BLACKJACK MULLIGAN, AMAZING RED, CELEBRITY CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2009-11-10 10:00:00
Whatever became of Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling program on TNN? I haven't read or seen anything more about it. Was it cancelled?

It actually aired on CMT, not TNN.  The show ran its first season and to date, a second season has not been ordered, so unfortunately, the project appears dead.  It's a real shame as I enjoyed the first season, well, until Todd Bridges got screwed out of rightfully winning the CCW title.

If TNA considered utilizing the incredible popularity of University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow would that improve their ratings?

No, I don't think that would help TNA one iota.

Humor me on this. With Shane McMahon resigning and if we WERE to start a separate wrestling organization that is not connected in any way to WWE and if money was not an issue for him to get anyone he wanted, when he wanted it (IE if he wanted a Triple H caliber name/wrestler be it whoever) how successful do you think he would be getting the talent needed for it to succeed or do you think 99% of the talent out there would either want to try to go to TNA or would they just be to afraid to upset Vince by going with Shane assuming they wanted to go to WWE down the line? Do you also think Vince would give his blessing to Shane to start something, even a little, or fight Shane tooth and nail over it?

I have no doubt in my mind that if Shane McMahon ever tried to run opposition to WWE, Vince McMahon would make it his mission in life to crush the potential uprising.  I also think there would be a large collection of talent who would balk at working for him for fear of Vince blackballing them.

I read where legendary wrestler Blackjack Mulligan suffered either a stroke or a heart attack sometime ago. Is this true? If so, how is he doing?

Blackjack Mulligan did suffer a stroke last August and is still recovering.  It's a very slow process.

With the surprising push of TNA's Amazing Red do you seem him becoming their version of Rey Mysterio, Jr?

Absolutely.  I honestly believe that's a big part of TNA's strategy in that regard - to make him a similar high flying young babyface.
