STACKED PWG BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES TOURNAMENT THIS MONTH, ALBANO BIOGRAPHY, NEW LUCHA COMPANY TO PROVIDE TALENT & LUCHA CLOTHING LINE AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2009-11-06 14:52:23
Pro Wrestling Guerrilla will hold one of their biggest events of the year, the 2009 Battle of Los Angeles Tournament on 11/20 and 11/21 with Kenny Omega, Kevin Steen, Joey Ryan, Austin Aries, Brian Kendrick, Brandon Gatson, Roderick Strong, The Young Bucks, Jerome Robinson, Chris Sabin, Scott Lost, Alex Shelley, The Human Tornado, Colt Cabana and El Generico competing.  If anyone attends the tournament, we are seeking live reports.  For details, visit www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com.

Ruben Zamora, who has promoted a number Lucha events and has worked to market and distribute different Lucha products into the United States, has formed a new company titled Masked Republic.  Republic will basically be working as agents and marketers to get Lucha talents bookings Stateside as well as launching a new clothing line that will be Lucha and wrestling based.   Already on board with the company are Blue Demon, Jr., Rey Misterio, Sr., Hijo De Rey Misterio, LA PARK, Vampiro, Cassandro, Solar, Super Astro, Rayo De Jalisco, and Villano III.  For more information, visit www.maskedrepublic.com.

The Terry Funk Roast will be released on DVD on 11/27 by Kayfabe Commentaries. You'll want to see this just for the Missy Hyatt performance.

In one of those "only in wrestling" stories, IWA Mid-South Wrestling will be running a show shortly, partially to cover the costs of refunds they have yet to provide to fans for shows that were canceled when the company shuttered operations.

Our friends at www.highspots.com are now carrying the Lou Albano autobiography, which Albano independently published last year.  I've read the book and it's a good read.  Highspots also recently released the most recent PWG event, Guerre Sans Frontieres, from 9/4, which featured Bryan Danielson vs. Chris Hero and an insane six man tag with El Generico & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. CIMA & Motor City Machine Guns.

The first names announced for the May Legends of the Ring convention in New Jersey are The Briscoes, Sean Mooney and a Mean Street Posse reunion.
