WHO MADE THE CALL TO BURY JEFF HARDY ON PPV LAST WEEK, TOP WWE HEEL MAY GET BODYGUARD AND MORE

As I reported on my Elite Hotline on Tuesday 9/15, it was Vince McMahon's call to bury Jeff Hardy at Breaking Point last week. According to a creative source, Punk promo at Breaking Point mentioning Jeff Hardy's arrest was not originally written into the script for the PPV.  Vince McMahon made the call to add those comments into the promo the day of the show.  I was also told that Punk had already cut one promo and then was asked to cut another including the Hardy comments.

Speaking of Punk, as we reported a few weeks back in the Elite section, there has been a push in creative to give him a bodyguard.  The original pitch was to put Ezekiel Jackson in the role since he did so well with Brian Kendrick, but WWE would like him to develop more and feel ECW is a better place for him.  The latest idea tossed around was to put Festus in the role with the idea that Punk either "got him off his medication" or would be controlling him by "feeding him pills" to enhance Punk's heel straightedge role.  That's why Festus has been off TV in recent weeks.

If WWE decides not to release the planned Jeff Hardy DVD in December, the most likely replacement will be a Chris Jericho compilation but as of this past Friday, work was still being done on the Hardy DVD in Stamford, CT.
