On this day in history in ....

1979 - Terry & Dory Funk Jr. defeat The Invaders in San Juan, Puerto Rico to won the WWC World Tag Team Title. 

1980 - Junkyard Dog & Buck Robley defeat The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Terry Gordy) to win the Mid-South Wrestling Tag Team Title. 

1987 - Bruce Hart & Brian Pillman defeat Cuban Assassin & Ron Starr in a tournament final in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to win the Stampede International Tag Team Title.  Previous champions Hiroshi Hase & Fumihiro Niikura vacated the title in December of 1986 when Niikura went home to Japan, and suffering from health problems, opted not to return. 

1990 - Yoshihiro Asai (Ultimo Dragon) defeats Cuchillo in Mexico City, Mexico to win the UWA World Middleweight Title. 

1997 - WCW held their Spring Stampede Pay-per-view at the Tupelo Coliseum in Tupelo, Mississippi.  Here are the results: 
- Rey Mysterio Jr. defeated Ultimo Dragon with a rana.
- WCW Women's Champion Akira Hokuto defeated Madusa after Luna Vahon interfered.
- WCW Television Champion Prince Iaukea defeated Steven Regal by reversing a sunset flip.
- The Public Enemy defeated Steve McMichael & Jeff Jarrett when Johnny Grunge pinned Jarrett after Rocco Rock hit him with McMichael's metal briefcase.
- In a rather embarrassing moment, Booker T lets a racial slur slip out while Harlem Heat are being interviewed about possibly becoming the number one contender to the WCW World Title later in the show.
- WCW United States Champion Dean Malenko vs. Chris Benoit ended in a no-contest after interference from Kevin Sullivan, Eddie Guerrero, Arn Anderson, and Jacqueline.
- Kevin Nash defeated Rick Steiner with a powerbomb.  The WCW World Tag Team Title, held by Nash and Scott Hall was on the line in this match.
- Lex Luger defeated The Giant, Booker T and Stevie Ray in a Four Corners match when Luger made Stevie Ray submit to the torture rack.  As a result, Lex Luger became the number one contender to the WCW World Title.
- Diamond Dallas Page defeated Randy Savage in a No Disqualification match with the Diamond Cutter.
