March 21st

On this day in history in ....

1981 - An unusual lineup change took place at a WWF event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Spectrum.  Due to a transit strike, the decision was made to reverse the card order and hold the main event matches early in the show, and end the evening with the undercard bouts, since WWF expected fans to leave the event early.  Here are the results:
- Moondog King defeated Rick McGraw.
- Andre The Giant defeated Hulk Hogan.
- WWF World Champion Bob Backlund defeated Sgt. Slaughter in a steel cage match.
- Stan Hansen defeated Tony Garea.
- Intercontinental Champion Pedro Morales defeated Moondog Rex.
- SD Jones vs. Bulldog Brower ended in a double-DQ.
- Rick Martel defeated The Hangman.
- Larry Sharpe defeated Fred Savage.
- The Great Yatsu defeated Baron Mikel Scicluna.
- Dominic DeNucci defeated Johnny Rodz.

1987 - At a WWF Television taping in Las Vegas, Nevada, three editions of a new interview segment, "Missy's Manor" hosted by the debuting Missy Hyatt take place, with Hyatt interviewing Bobby Heenan, The Honky Tonk Man, and Strike Force.  The next night, WWF would tape several more segments. However, the segments never air, and Missy Hyatt leaves the WWF to return to the UWF.  Other than a WWF magazine article promoting her debut (the magazine was published before the decision was made not to go with the segments), Missy Hyatt is never seen in the WWF again.

- Tatanka defeated Reno Riggins.
- Jerry Lawler defeated Tito Santana in Lawler's Madison Square Garden debut.
- Rick Steiner defeated Irwin R. Shyster.
- Randy Savage defeated Doink The Clown via DQ when Doink used his flower to squirt Savage in the eyes, blinding him.  The match was to have taken place earlier in the card, but Doink had attacked Savage in the aisle as he made his entrance.
- Bret Hart & Mr. Perfect defeated Razor Ramon & Lex Luger.  This was Luger's MSG debut.  After the match, Luger, Ramon, Hart, Perfect, Randy Savage and Giant Gonzalez engaged in a brawl.

1994 - At a WWF television taping in Poughkeepsie, New York the night after Wrestlemania 10, three episodes of Monday Night Raw were taped.  During the third episode, Rick Martel, IRS, Jeff Jarrett & The Headshrinkers defeated Sparky Plugg, The 123 Kid, Tatanka & the Smoking Gunns in a match that was supposed to take place at Wrestlemania 10, but was cut due to time constraints.  However, in episode two, the Headshrinkers had turned babyface by joining with Captain Lou Albano, confusing some fans when they were teaming with heels later at the taping (or the following week, for home viewers).

1998 - ECWA presented their second "Super 8" tournament in Wilmington, Delaware. The tournament would quickly become one of the most anticipated independent events of the year, and was seen as a showcase for the "stars of tomorrow". Here are the results of the tournament matches:

He instead demanded a restart, which Van Dam agreed to, and Van Dam won the match via pinfall.
- New Jack defeated Mustafa.
- Spike Dudley & Super Nova defeated Buh Buh Ray & D-Von Dudley when Sid Vicious came out and destroyed the Dudleys, allowing Spike to get the pin. After the match, Sid destroyed Spike as well.
