March 19th

On this day in history in ....

1988 - Bad Company (Pat Tanaka & Paul Diamond) defeat The Midnight Rockers (Marty Jannetty & Shawn Michaels) for the AWA World Tag Team Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada, ending the Rockers second title reign.

1994 - Brian Christopher defeated Eddie Gilbert for the USWA Southern Heavyweight Title in Memphis, Tennessee to begin his 12th run with the title (and ending Gilbert's second reign). Christopher won via countout, and due to a pre-match stipulation, the title changed hands.

1995 - WCW hold their "Uncensored" Pay-per-view in Tupelo, Mississippi at the Tupelo Coliseum. Here are the results from the show:
- Alex Wright defeated Mark Starr. This match was shown on TBS' "The Main Event" prior to the PPV.
- Steve Austin defeated Tim Horner. This match was shown on TBS' "The Main Event" prior to the PPV.
- Marcus Bagwell & The Patriot defeated Dick Slater & Bunkhouse Buck. This match was shown on TBS' "The Main Event" prior to the PPV.
- The Blacktop Bully defeated Dustin Rhodes in a "King of the Road" match. The match, which took place in the back of a flatbed truck while it was moving, was actually filmed in Atlanta, and was heavily edited. Dustin Rhodes got in trouble for blading during the match, and soon was gone from the company.
- Meng defeated Hacksaw Jim Duggan in a "Martial Arts" match.
- Johnny B. Badd defeated Arn Anderson in the third round of a "boxer vs. wrestler" match via knockout.
- Randy Savage defeated Avalanche via disqualification.
- Big Bubba Rogers defeated Sting.
- The Nasty Boys defeated Harlem Heat in a "Falls Count Anywhere" match.
- Hulk Hogan defeated Vader in a strap match by dragging Ric Flair, who interfered on behalf of Vader, to all four ringposts.  The reason for the bizarre finish was because neither Hogan nor Vader would do a clean loss for the other man.

2000 - WCW hold their "Uncensored" Pay-per-view in Miami, Florida at the American Airlines Arena.
- Cruiserweight Champion The Artist defeated Psicosis.
- Norman Smiley & The Demon defeated Lane & Rave.
- Bam Bam Bigleow defeated The Wall via DQ.
- Brian Knobs defeated Three Count to win the WCW Hardcore Title.
- Billy Kidman & Booker T defeated Big T & Stevie Ray.
- Vampiro defeated Fit Finlay in a "Falls Count Anywhere" match.
- Ron & Don Harris defeated Big Vito & Johnny The Bull to win the WCW World Tag Team Title.
- Dustin Rhodes defeated Terry Funk in a Bullrope match.
- Sting defeated Lex Luger in a "Lumberjacks With Casts" match.
- WCW World Champion Sid Vicious defeated Jeff Jarrett.
- Hulk Hogan defeated Ric Flair in a strap match.

2002 - During an edition of Raw from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, X-Pac made his return to the WWE after a 4-month absence.  During a match between The Rock and Kevin Nash, Scott Hall interfered, getting Nash disqualified.  Hulk Hogan made the save for The Rock, but X-Pac entered through the crowd and hit Hogan with a steel chair.  Hall, Nash and Pac then beat down Hogan and Rock, spraypainting "NWO" on Hogan's back.  Also on the show, William Regal defeated Diamond Dallas Page to win the European Title with the Regal Stretch after knocking out DDP with a pair of brass knucks.

2003 - The Acolytes defeat Travis Bane & Seven for the Ohio Valley Wrestling Southern Heavyweight Tag Team Title.

2003 - Hiromichi Fuyuki, also known as Ricky Fuyuki and Kodo Fuyuki, died of cancer at age 42. The Japanese star, who was part of the Footloose tag team with Toshiaki Kawada in All Japan, and was the booker for FMW during it's final years, had done so many public angles and swerves that some believed he was faking the cancer all the way up until his death.
