February 12th

On this day in history in ....

1978 - Ted DiBiase defeats Dick Slater in St. Louis, Missouri to win the NWA Missouri Heavyweight Title.

1979 - Toru Tanaka defeats Ron Fuller in Memphis, Tennessee for the AWA Southern Heavyweight Title.

1979 - Dutch Mantel & Frankie Lane defeat Jose Rivera & Chief Thunder Cloud for the vacant WWC North American Tag Team Title in Puerto Rico. The belts had been vacated when the previous champions, Pierre & Rick Martel, lost a loser-leaves-town match to the Invaders on February 4, 1979.

1984 - In front of over 20,000 fans in Naulcalpan, Mexico, UWA World Champion El Canek defeats Andre The Giant in a Two Out Of Three Fall match, scoring a rare pinfall win over Andre in the deciding fall.

1985 - Jimmy Hart makes his World Wrestling Federation debut at a television taping in Poughkeepsie, New York, managing Intercontinental Champion Greg Valentine and Jim Neidhart.

1990 - Rex King & Steve Doll defeat Robert Fuller & Brian Lee for the USWA Tag Team Title in Memphis, Tennessee, winning back the belts they had lost six days earlier.

1999 - An interesting turn of events took place at ECW's show at the Elks Lodge in Queens, New York (aka the Madhouse of Extreme). Originally, the Public Enemy, who had just recently returned to the company from WCW, were going to continue their new feud with the Dudley Boyz at the show. However, the Public Enemy bolted from the company and went to the WWF. In need of a surprise, ECW brought back Mustafa Saed and reformed the Gangstas with New Jack. However, the reunion didn't last long, as Mustafa turned on New Jack and joined with the Dudleys, revealing himself to be the "financial benefactor" of the Dudleys, and was soon called "Mr. Mustafa".

2000 - Don & Ron Harris defeat The Mamalukes (Big Vito & Johnny the Bull) for the WCW World Tag Team Title in Oberhaussen, Germany, beginning their second reign with the belts. The Harris brothers would lose it back to The Mamalukes before the end of the tour.

2001 - During an Arsion show at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Aja Kong walks out of the promotion she had been the leader of, leaving Mariko Yoshida to wrestle alone against Twin Stars Of Arsion champions Mima Shimoda & Etsuka Mita. Rookie Ryo Miyagi, after a strange one minute match in her street clothes with Michiko Ohmukai, also leaves the company. Arsion would later bring in Lioness Asuka to take the place of Kong as "veteran star" of the company.

2003 - Kid Kash defeats Sonny Siaki in Nashville, Tennessee to win the TNA X-Division Title.
