WHY MINNEAPOLIS MISSED OUT ON WRESTLEMANIA 41

By Mike Johnson on 2024-05-05 09:58:00

The Minnesota Tribune covered WWE bringing Wrestlemania 41 to Las Vegas instead of Minneapolis, which had been the front runner.

"We were informed by WWE that Minnesota would not host WrestleMania in 2025 due to a change in direction by new ownership," Wendy Blackshaw, Minnesota Sports and Events's President told The Star.

"Although disappointed, we are in discussions with WWE about future events in Minnesota. We are optimistic that Minnesota will host WWE events here in the future."

As PWInsiderElite.com has covered since the day after Wrestlemania 40, the delay in naming the date and location had been with WWE deciding where their flagship show.  WWE President Nick Khan had noted in an interview Mania 40 week that Philadelphia was the final weekend he had inherited from the previous ownership.    Vegas is a big fight city that has not hosted Wrestlemania since 1993 and obviously, close to Los Angeles and the entertainment world.

The belief over the course of Wrestlemania 40 weekend among some in WWE circles was that Vegas would land 41 and Minneapolis could land 42, but obviously Mania 42's location has yet to be confirmed.
