Cleveland.com reported the brother of Smackdown Live star Dolph Ziggler, Donald Nemeth, was sentenced yesterday to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty last month to involuntary manslaughter, aggravated robbery and kidnapping charges in relation to the January 2016 shooting of 34-year old Joseph Mascol at an area hotel.
Prosecutors alleged at the time of his arrest that Nemeth tried to rob Mascol during a drug deal, claiming that the two men fought, leading to Nemeth pulling a gun and shooting him three times. Nemeth was initially charged with aggravated murder, pleading not guilty at the time. Nemeth and another suspect, Jack King, were both slated to go to trial last month on the charges as they had each blamed each other for Mascol's death. In the end, each plead guilty to lesser charges as they were facing possible life sentences if they went to trial for the larger crime, had they been convicted.
Previous Cleveland.com coverage of the story noted that Prosecutors had requested that Nemeth's defense be prevented from bringing up that his brother was Ziggler, believing his celebrity might be used to bring distract jurors from the case, despite being irrelevant to the situation.
