John Cena is currently filming Transformers: Bumblebee but is already being eyed for another potential Hollywood franchise film that is being adapted from a classic '80s TV property - Knight Rider.
ScreenRant.com is reporting that a comedic reboot of the property from The Weinstein Company has been eyeing both Cena and comedian Kevin Hart for leading roles. Cena is envisioned as playing Michael Knight, the role that made David Hasselhoff a massive international star while Hart was pitched as the voice of KITT, the futuristic super-car that Knight drives. The idea is to do a take on the series similar to the feature film version of 21 Jump Street, turning the original concept into an action comedy.
The original series aired for several years on NBC in the early 1980s and has seen subsequent made for TV sequel series and films in the past, most recently a 2008 series (which was quite good) but only lasted one season.
Transformers: Bumblee is set for a 12/21/18 theatrical release.
