JR & HEYMAN REUNITE TONIGHT IN NYC, SAMOA JOE ON ASCENSION TO WWE MAIN EVENT SCENE, WWE STARS AT NY METS, ZIGGLER, FOLEY AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2017-08-18 09:15:00

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross will take to the stage tonight for his one man show at the Gotham Comedy Club tonight with Paul Heyman as his special guest.  You can find more information for the event at www.JRsBarBQ.com.  I have seen Jim's show about five times over the years and it's never failed to be a LOT of fun.  It's worth going out of your way to see if you can.

WWE Celebrity Hall of Famer Snoop Dogg is in NYC and will be appearing at tonight's WWE 2K18 videogame media event.  Given that Sasha Banks is challenging for the Raw Women's championship Sunday at Summerslam, it should be interesting to see if Snoop makes an appearance at the PPV.

USA Today's Josh Barnett has an excellent piece in today's print edition of the newspaper on Samoa Joe and other veterans of the wrestling world who have migrated to the main event picture in WWE.  Joe commented on the importance of his match last month against Brock Lesnar.  “It was a watershed moment for me in terms of legitimization,” Joe said “Winning the Universal title wasn’t in the cards, but people realized what they had on their hands. WWE realized that I belong in the main event picture and that’s where I am at SummerSlam.”   The piece also features comments from Kevin Owens and Triple H.  You can read a longer version of the piece online by clicking here.

At 3:56 PM today, Sasha Banks and Braun Strowman will be ringing the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange.

Matt and Jeff Hardy, Carmella and Curt Hawkins will be at tonight's New York Mets game as the Mets take on the Miami Marlins.  The WWE talents will be taking part in batting practice.  Hawkins is a massive New York Mets fan, so this should be very special to him.

WWE is running their annual "Hire Heroes USA Veteran Career Panel & Networking Event" today at Rockefeller Center, giving more than 70 veterans the opportunity to receive one-on-one career coaching while networking with key employers from the Tri-State Area including Pepsi, Revlon, Unilever and more.   Mark Henry will be there to meet and greet the veterans.

For those of you in Long Island, Mick Foley will be appearing tonight at '90s Night at Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh, NY at 10 PM.  For more details, click here.

Dolph Ziggler will be appearing tonight at the Upright Citizens Brigade's UCBW event, which is sort of their comedy tribute to professional wrestling that has been running off and on at the UCB forever and is pretty fun.  The show is $7 at the UCW Theater (307 West 26th Street) in NYC, a tiny, intimate theater..  Doors open 11:59 PM.

Speaking of Ziggler, Paul Jordan sent the following video on how Ric Flair Influenced Dolph Ziggler's WWE Career:

WWE had a "live stream" version of their Game Night YouTube series last night:
