ARREST MADE IN 'WRESTLING WITH AUTISM' CHARITY EVENT SCAM IN CT

By Mike Johnson on 2017-06-23 20:00:00

James Raymond, 35,the point person involved in a "Wrestling for Austism" fundraiser held last April in Connecticut by Paradise Alley Pro Wrestling, a wrestling school and promotion run by former WWF and WCW star Paul Roma and former WWF enhancement talent Mario Mancini was arrested by East Haven, CT police this week and charged with issuing a bad check.

As previously noted on PWInsider.com, the check Raymond wrote to the promotion to reimburse their expenses, bounced.   The promotion later learned that the $5,000 they raised for the event, which was to be donated to Autism Services and Resources Connecticut, was never actually donated.  The event had drawn 600 fans and the scam had captured the attention of local news station WTNH last month.

Local media reports indicate that the East Haven, CT police gained a warrant to arrest Raymond after it became obvious that he had no intentions of cooperating with their investigation into the issue.  Investigators had been trying to track him down for some time but were unable to, partially because Raymond had disconnected all of his social media and telephone numbers in the wake of the allegations against him spreading locally.

PAPW had previously announced they would berunning their own benefit event to assist the charity.  That event takes place Sunday 6/25 at the East Haven Veterans Memorial Ice Rink.
