As of midnight this morning, Asuka surpassed Rockin' Robin's long-standing record of 502 days as WWF Women's Champion. This means that Asuka is now not only the longest-reigning women's champion of any of that title's incarnations, but she has also now become the longest-reigning champion in WWE history period, other than the years-long title reigns achieved by Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund, Pedro Morales, and Hulk Hogan in the pre-national expansion days, none of which are likely to ever be surpassed.
Even in a predetermined business, Asuka has proven time and time again what a versatile worker and character she is by managing to stay fresh, interesting, and continuing to deliver great matches time and time again. As of today, she's outlasted over 1,100 other title reigns that have occurred over the course of WWE history with this tremendous feat. She absolutely deserves the honor that she's already earned regardless of what happens at Takeover on Saturday night, and it's been a pleasure to so closely follow the final two months of her journey.
