'IT'S A MATTER OF WHEN, NOT IF' - MATT AND JEFF HARDY COMMENT ON THEIR 'BROKEN' PERSONAS COMING TO WWE

By Mike Johnson on 2017-06-12 14:10:00

WWE released a 14 minute interview with Matt and Jeff Hardy to the VOD section of the WWE Network where the brothers discussed a number of topics with Corey Graves.

Most notably, the brothers were asked about the status of their "Broken" gimmicks in WWE, described by Corey Graves as "their shattered Matt or broken personas."   Matt Hardy said it was odd to go back to being "regular Matt Hardy" after being so used to doing "other things" saying that he felt like he morphed into or almost became that other personality.    Matt described the character as "inside him" and that it could always be "unleashed" again.

On the Broken Matt and Brother Nero personas coming to WWE, Matt said, "I definitely think there is a chance.  It's a work in progress.  Unfortunately, due to legal reasons, I really can't go into it right now but I find it very flattering and humbling that every time we come and wrestle in front of the WWE Universe, they chant and they address it and they acknowledge it."

On the "Delete" chants, Hardy told the fans that they love when the audiences does that and "please keep doing it" and when the Hardys have more details, they can talk more about everything.

"When it happens, and I'm not going to say if, when it happens, " Matt said, "It's going to be the most exciting thing to hit WWE programming in a long, long time.  We've got to keep people guessing"

Jeff Hardy joked, "I'm so glad my middle name is Nero."  Jeff said he's always loved that middle name but loves it even more now.  Matt responded, "Ladies and gentlemen, I give you my brother, comma, Nero."

On their WWE return, Matt Hardy described it as a situation where the stars aligned and that they always intended to finish their careers in the company.  Jeff Hardy pointed out that when he left in 2009, he said it wasn't "goodbye forever but goodbye for now."  He said the fans kept him to that.   They showed footage of the Hardys hidden backstage at Wrestlemania, where Jeff admitted he was nervous and Matt described the return as "the final chapter to some magnificent novel."    They also showed footage of a jubilant Big Show greeting them after their Wrestlemania match.

Matt Hardy said returning has 'rejuvenated" their love for sport-entertainment.   He said the company is more mainstream than ever before and the wrestlers are more athletic than their early runs with the company.  Matt admitted it's intimidating because of how great the younger roster is, but it gives them a chance to bounce their ideas and what they can do off of the younger generation.

The discussion also dove into their past personal issues and how they have addressed them and came out better on the other side.  Matt Hardy described their children as a motivation.

On individual goals, Matt said they were happy being a tag team but obviously a day will come where that happens, pointing out that Jeff was a former WWE champion and that he'd like to have that moment for himself.  Matt said that he likes taking risks to evolve and change.  Jeff said that he's never been in a Hell in A Cell match and "I've got to do that before I'm done."  Jeff said he's like to work with Roman Reigns.  Matt Hardy mentioned Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt.

It's a well produced 14 minute broadcast.
