Blitzkrieg Pro “Red Hot Moon”

April 29, 2017

Enfield, CT

Blitzkrieg is back in their regular home for a show featuring Donovan Dijak, “All Ego” Ethan Page, Chuck O’Neil, Joey Janela, John Silver, Chris Dickinson and many of the Blitzkrieg regulars.  After a killer Beyond show in the early afternoon, it will be interesting to see how many return fans there are and how they react to a different style of show.

MATCH ONE: East Coast Bastard Crew (Jeremy Leary & Logan Black) v. Beauty & The Beast (Stevie Fierce & Rob Matter)

I guess if I had to describe Fierce & Matter, think Zoolander meets Three Count.  They did a lot of posing and seemed concerned with how they looked as opposed to offense.  On the opposite end, Leary & Black are more Black Flag/Misfits.

Fierce and Matter cut the ring off on Black to get the heat.  They did a decent job of keeping him contained until the time was right for the hot tag.  Leary with the hot tag and he ran wild.  Decent back and forth between the teams from there.  The crowd definitely got into it.

They announced the times here on the PA and they got down to one-minute left.  Rather than rush to get back in the ring, Leary did a plancha to the floor and Fierce and Matter hit a double team move to Black on the floor.  No sense of urgency when you know there’s a minute left hurt this one for me.  Plus, after they announced one-minute left, the match went WAY more than a minute.

They went back and forth and the ECBC finished it with a wheelbarrow suplex combo for the victory.

WINNERS: East Coast Bastard Crew

MATCH TWO: Number One Contender Match for the Blitzkrieg Bedlam Title – Just Neph w/ DG Haven v. Craig Mitchell v. Scott Wild w/Mecca v. Matt Knicks

This one was all over the place and the crowd was digging it.  A lot of one on one situations while the other two were recovering.  Lots of craziness and I can’t really describe it all because it’s moving too fast.

Toward the end, lots of quick nearfall attempts.  No one really established themselves as a heel or a face.  They ended up doing a lot of moves.  Just Neph won with a pop-up sit-out power bomb for the win.  It came out of nowhere and the crowd was pretty stunned.

WINNER: Just Neph

MATCH THREE: John Silver v. Chuck O’Neil v. Chris Dickinson

This was originally Silver v. Chuck, but the commissioner came out and said he does whatever he wants, so he made it a Triple Threat with Dickinson.

Silver and Dickinson were teaming up against O’Neil, trying to outdo each other on suplexes and slams.  Silver tried to sneak in a quick pin when Dickinson wasn’t looking and that’s when that team fell apart and the match was every man for himself.  Dickinson and Silver did a great job with that to establish Chuck as the babyface and really got the crowd into Chuck’s comeback and offense.

Lots of great spots in this one and some really cool nearfalls.  With Silver and Dickinson being more established veterans, O’Neil held his own and did a great job hanging with them.  The finish saw O’Neil hit a Michinoku Driver on Dickinson for a two count, followed by an armbar for the win.

This was a really well constructed triple threat that wasn’t like your regular one where one guy goes out of the ring while the other two battled in the ring.  Really enjoyable match.

WINNER: Chuck O’Neil

MATCH FOUR: Scramble Match – Isaiah Rex v. Narcisco Rex v. Ryan Malice v. Travis Huckabee v.  J-George v. Perry Von Vicious v. Mr. Grimm

The match is a Royal Rumble where you can also eliminate people with pins and submissions.

The Rex Brothers were the first entrants.  They’ve had an ongoing feud in Blitzkrieg that saw Isaiah join the Full Throttle Wrecking Crew last month.  The FTWC is a local group that act as cheerleaders outside of the ring, except they’re bikers.

The Rex Brothers eliminated each other by going over the top rope as they were fighting.

J-George came out with a microphone and sang his entrance, which is “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley.  That was interesting.

Grimm was announced as “The Hitman For Hire.”  He eliminated Huckabee by tossing him over the ropes.  He then eliminated Von Vicious with a spear.  Then he eliminated Malice with a side slam.

The entire match, J-George was outside of the ring and teased coming in a few times, only to remain outside.  After Grimm eliminated Malice, he snuck in a threw Grimm out to win the match.  He then went to sing Rick Astley again when J-Grimm hit him with a Singapore Cane and then hit a Pounce.  Grimm pulled out a body bag and was going to put J-George in it when Malice jumped Grimm.  It ended with Grimm getting the upper hand on him and putting Malice in the bag then carrying him out.

WINNER: J-George

MATCH FIVE: Maxwell Jacob Friedman v. “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela with Penelope Ford

Janela is one of the hottest acts on the independents, while MJF is one of the most talented up and comers.  This should be really interesting.

Janela once again out to the WCW Psychosis theme as he is want to do on occasion, and I love it every time.

They ended up brawling on the outside and Janela sat MJF in a chair and ran about 50 feet to hit him with a forearm.  As they were getting back in the ring, MJF draped Janela’s arm across the ropes and that became his focal point.

They ended up trading nearfalls from there.  Janela did a good job as the white meat babyface getting the crowd into his offense, and MJF played his role as the heel well as always.

They exchanged some really cool nearfalls at the end, including an innovative running piledriver by MJF.  Ford got up on the apron and MJF feigned hitting her.  Janela came with a running boot for the save but MJF moved and he hit Ford.  MJF went to finish it, but Janela reversed on the mat and locked in the crossface for the submission.  Really fun match.

WINNER: “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela

Intermission

MATCH SIX: “All Ego” Ethan Page v. Donovan Dijak

Page did some stalling before the match, which included getting on the mic and insulting the Full Throttle Wrecking Crew at ringside which was really fun.  He also thrusted his hips like Rick Rude and told the crowd to “Feast Your Eyes” on All Ego.  That was fantastic.

After going back and forth for the first five or so minutes, Page took control and was working over Dijak to get the heat.  As usual, he was doing a fantastic job.  Between his solid offense and his crowd work, he really seems to have found his groove.

The crowd was VERY ready for Dijak’s comeback and they made a lot of noise when it came.  A few nearfalls from that point on with the crowd right there with them.  A fantastic one came when Page sprung into the ring and hit a huge cutter that was a 2.99 count.  After some exchanges, Dijak hit the Feast Your Eyes for the win.  The match received a well-deserved standing ovation.  Dijak continues to be absolutely electric with each match and Page was outstanding.

WINNER: Donovan Dijak

MATCH SEVEN: Briggs v. Xavier Bell

At the last show, Briggs dominated a scramble match and destroyed everyone in the match.  Bell was the only one to put up half a fight, and tonight, they square off.  In Blitzkrieg, Briggs has been doing a Bruiser Brody gimmick and it’s fantastic.  To add to the greatness of the gimmick, he came to the ring through the crowd, walking right through chairs and people and carrying a chain. He also wears a bad ass fur vest.  Absolutely tremendous.

Bell would keep putting up a fight and Briggs would keep smashing him down.  He hit some huge moves, including a sidewalk backbreaker after catching Bell off the top rope.  Briggs really took his time and let things sink in and allowed Bell to sell which was really good.  Bell went for a suicide dive but Briggs caught him and chokeslammed him onto the apron.  He rolled Bell into the ring and hit two choke slams.  As he was going for a third, the ref rang the bell to end the match to protect Bell.  Briggs then went to choke slam the ref when Chuck O’Neil ran out and pushed Briggs away.  He went to check on Bell and Briggs attacked him.  They then started to have an awesome brawl in and around the ring and to the back.  Really great stuff and I can’t wait to see them wrestle.

The only issue I had with the finish was that it should have been some sort of TKO win for Briggs since it was called off because Bell could no longer protect himself.  Other than that it was a well done finish.

WINNER: No Contest

MATCH EIGHT: The Genius Bar (“Smart” Mark Sterling & “Top Shelf” Troy Nelson) v. Sugar & Spice (Skylar & Solo Darling)

This was a comedy match built around Solo Darling’s love of sugar.  She had a one-liter bottle of Sprite with her and would get energized drinking it.  Troy Nelson took a sip then had a hissy fit where he ran around the ring like a wild person.

It eventually turned into a more traditional tag team match.  Sterling and Nelson cut the ring off on Skylar and got the heat on her.  This built until Sterling asked for a tag from Nelson and Nelson refused seemingly out of being flustered from the earlier exchange.

Solo got the hot tag and went wild, including dropping Sterling with a straight right that he did a fantastic job of selling.  Out of nowhere, Sterling turned around and started beating down Nelson.  He then piledrove him on a chair and Pilmanized him with two yard sticks.  Interesting finish.

WINNERS: No Contest

MAIN EVENT: Blitzkrieg Bedlam Title – I Quit Match – Sasha Jenkins (c) v. “Sexy Jesus” Hammer Tunis

This was an I Quit match where the referee held a mic the entire time and would ask if the person wants to quit.

This one turned into a brawl all over the arena, which included chair shots and throwing each other into chairs.

The match went back into the ring and they went back and forth.  They would hit each other with big moves and get asked if they wanted to quit.  Tunis went for a choke and had it really sunk in.  It looked like Jenkins had passed out so Tunis went to celebrate.  Jenkins recovered and hit him with a chair.  Jenkins then taped Tunis’ wrists to the top ropes ala Jesus.  He was asked if he wanted to quit and he said “you’ll never kill Jesus.”  Jenkins hit him with a weak chair shot to the head, which, thankfully it was, but why even do it?  Jenkins went into the ring and went to go for another chair shot when Tunis yelled out that he quit.

WINNER: Sasha Jenkins

Another fun show from Blitzkrieg that the crowd seemed to enjoy.  The obvious standout match was Page v. Dijak, with the three-way with Dickinson, Silver and O’Neil a close second.  They also built toward future shows with good booking.
