Former Impact Wrestling star Crazzy Steve announced today he was now accepting independent bookings "for a limited time." He can be booked by emailing bookcrazzysteve@gmail.com.
The word making the rounds is that Steve has received WWE interest and opted out of his Impact deal because of it. We are told that Impact had the legal option to renew his contract for an additional year but opted to let him go when he asked for a release. He was well liked and it was an amicable departure.
PWInsider.com has heard from multiple sources that WWE officials are telling talents that are leaving contracts with other promotions that they will not enter into discussions with them for at least 90 days. This stems from a widely discussed (but never confirmed) story within the business that Ring of Honor sent WWE a legal letter warning them about discussions with talents who were coming to the end of their contracted deals.
So, it may be that Steve will be working independents for a few months before heading to WWE, similar to a number of other talents that we have heard WWE has interest in, including Lio Rush, Donovan Dijak and Kyle O'Reilly. In the case of Dijak, he was finishing up his independent dates in late April then suddenly began taking dates through June, so it appears any WWE NXT start date would begin in that time frame.
