"Where in the world are Matt and Jeff Hardy going?" seems to be the question we are receiving here regularly at PWInsider.com. So, here is the latest on The Hardys on three fronts:
Impact Wrestling: Rebecca Hardy intimated that the family has gotten legal representation and have rejected any attempt at a legal settlement over Anthem Media's claim that they, not the Hardys, own the "Broken Universe" hallmarks. Matt has been using them all over on social media and the independents thus far as well. At the end of the day, the situation is either going to be dropped or it's going to end up in court. The ball appears to be in Anthem's court in that regard. Anthem sources remain adamant that Matt Hardy was not the sole creator of the trademarks of "Broken" Matt and continue to seek a settlement where that material would be licensed to the Hardys with the idea that if/when the Hardys take it and make money with it elsewhere, Anthem will profit from a percentage of that revenue.
WWE: There's been contact between the two sides. A WWE source today indicated that the word within the company is that it's a matter of when, not if the brothers return but believed that the return would only be for Matt and Jeff, not the extended family, in terms of a deal. That doesn't mean Senor Benjamin, etc. could not appear if and when needed creatively, just that they would not be offered deals. A major issue that has to be worked out, we were told, would be scheduling as it's not likely that Matt and Jeff would be willing or even able to do a full-time WWE touring schedule at this point in their lives. With the Usos having won the Smackdown Tag Team championship and not yet having opponents for Wrestlemania 33, that presents WWE with a hell of a surprise if they decide to bring the Hardys in.
Ring of Honor: The brothers have a short-term agreement with the company that likely will conclude on 4/1 at Supercard of Honor, although all sides are open to doing additional dates. The "Broken" aspects of the characters would be toned down in order to prevent Anthem from going after ROH, which was not happy with the last minute nature of the cease and desist letters sent the day of thre ROH 15th Anniversary PPV.
