WWE PULLING TALENTS FROM UK iPPVS, CODY'S NAME, NIGEL AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2017-01-20 10:00:00

From what I understand, Cody Rhodes can't use this name because it isn't his real name. Did the WWE create that name or was he using it before his time in WWE? Also, can Cody just tweak the spelling to, say, Roads or Rodes to maneuver around it or it there more to it than that?

Cody never used the name prior to his WWE TV debut on the main roster, so they have copyrighted and trademarked it and claim ownership.  By the letter of the law, WWE is correct, although the idea of preventing the son of Dusty Rhodes from using the same surname as his father is just wrong from a moral standpoint in my opinion.  From a business standpoint, I totally understand it, but I am not a fan of it personally.  Cody has noted that he has chosen not to maneuver around it.

Was the Braun Strowman shot a few weeks back that showed him watching The Undertaker's promo on Raw foreshadowing a Wrestlemania bout?

It's certainly possible.  I haven't personally heard that match is planned.  We have heard that WWE, as they always do, has played with different main event lineups for the PPV.  Until Rumble, they will continue to finagle their plans.  Vince McMahon changes his strategies creatively on a dime, so time will tell.

How screwed up is it that WWE is pulling talents from Floslam?

Not screwed up at all.  At the end of the day, no one forced anyone to sign with WWE and once you agree to a contract and sign it, you have to abide by what you have agreed to.   If you want to make an argument that WWE should have allowed a grace period for guys to complete announced bookings, I would agree with you on that but at the end of the day, WWE isn't going to want their talents appearing on platforms that are technically in competition to their own.

TNA's Race for the Case - could there have been a more convoluted way to explain that?

Perhaps if they explained it in Turkish?  I agree they explained it in a roundabout way and they tried too hard.  That comes with trying to do something different.

What's next for Nigel McGuinness if you were in charge?

I'd add him to the WWE NXT announcing team, so Corey Graves can focus on the main roster shows.
