1/11 OV TV TAPING LIVE REPORT

By Brian Cannon on 2017-01-12 07:55:00

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, January 11, 2017. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, the reign of Rocco Bellagio is in jeopardy as he faces a 3-man gauntlet match, Team Next Level talks about winning the Nightmare Scramble, a battle of "Steele", plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Ca$h Flo (w/Josh Ashcraft) defeats Kevin Giza after delivering several nasty chops and five turnbuckle bombs for the 3. The only offense Giza got in were some quick pin attempts including a backslide and some roll-ups.

The Ringmaster defeats Carlos Gabriel. Some quick back and forth action with Carlos hitting some flips and hurricanranas, but Ringmaster gets the 3 after a roll-up holding the tights.

Madi Maxx defeats Callie. Callie gets a quick start with a drop toehold and some arm drags. Madi fakes an ankle injury, smacks Callie, and gets the 3 after an inside cradle.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Gilbert Corsey & Shannon the Dude are on commentary and Gilbert is the ring announcer.

Team Next Level (Tony Gunn, Mitch Huff, & Devin Driscoll) come to the ring. Driscoll is holding the $10,000 check they won from the Nightmare Scramble, and says they don't really need it. He says Anthony Anderson & Ron Simmons can use it (referring to Big Jon & Justin Smooth) to learn how to be more entertaining. He says they are more concerned about taking the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles from them, and there is nothing Jon, Smooth, or Mr. Hill can do about it.

Jon & Smooth run out and Next Level runs out of the ring. Jon is upset about their interference in the Heavyweight Title match at the Special, and says if they want a tag title match, he doesn't want to wait until the next Special, he wants to do it right here, right now. Dean Hill comes out and says to send out a referee, this match is happening now.

OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLES: "Big Smooth": Big Jon & Justin Smooth (c) defeat "Team Next Level": "The Chosen One" Mitch Huff & "The Complete Athlete" Devin Driscoll (w/"Shotgun" Tony Gunn). Smooth throws Huff around. Jon & Driscoll tag in, and Jon powers through Driscoll. Smooth tags in and gets tripped up by Gunn on the outside. The ref throws Gunn out. Smooth gets superkicked by Huff on the apron, telling Gunn to leave. Driscoll hits him with a big spinebuster. Smooth comes back with a double clothesline to Huff & Driscoll. He goes to tag Jon, but Huff pulls Jon off the apron. Driscoll spears Smooth for 2. Huff locks in a sleeper, but Smooth backdrops him to break out. He tags Jon, and Jon comes in with clotheslines to Huff and sets up for the chokeslam. Driscoll breaks it up. Huff sets up for the Athlete's Foot, but Jon moves, and Huff clocks Driscoll. Jon grabs him, and Smooth comes over to deliver a double chokeslam and Big Smooth gets the 3.

After the match, Huff points to himself and motions that the loss was on him. Driscoll nods and shakes hands, only to pull Huff in and deliver a Cutter! He grabs a mic and says if he wanted a loser, he would have called Casey Reeves to come back. He goes on to say as quickly as you're in Team Next Level, you're out. He says "You're done, Chosen One".

"The King of Hairstyle" Robbie Walker defeats "Wrestling's Rockstar" Diamond Steele. Diamond comes out firing away and locks in the Whammy Bar, but Walker gets to the ropes. Diamond stays on top of the offense and goes up top for the Chart Topper. Trevor Steele runs out and shoves Diamond off the top rope. Walker takes advantage and connects with the Comb Over for the 3. After the pinfall, Trevor grabs Diamond and pulls him out of the ring saying he is the only real "Steele" here, and drags him to the back.

Rocco Bellagio is out to talk about being champion for 241 days, and after tonight will be the longest-reigning OVW Champion in history. He says he doesn't know who put together this gauntlet match, but they will find out that even at his worst, he is still the best.

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: "The Show Stealer" Rocco Bellagio (c) defeats "The Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stuart Miles. Stu comes in on fire, taking Rocco to the mat and delivering some healing to the head. He hits a dropkick off the second rope, and faceplants Rocco. He tries to lock in the big arms of Rocco in the cross submission, but Rocco stand up with him and powerslams him off his shoulders. He goes for the Plunge, but Stu slides out. He hits some more healing shots off the second rope, but Rocco is still on his feet. He goes to the very top rope, but is caught in a Plunge for the 3.

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: "The Show Stealer" Rocco Bellagio (c) defeats Big Zo (w/Josh Ashcraft). Josh tells Rocco it's only business. Zo hits Rocco into the corner, then runs in with the Zo Train. He hits a spinning kick off the ropes and a legdrop for 2. He kicks Rocco in the ribs and clubs him across the back. Rocco catches Zo running off the ropes and slams him. Zo comes back with a crushing splash in the corner. He goes up for the Zo Bomb, but Rocco moves. Rocco hits the Plunge for the 3. There is tension between Zo & Josh as Josh berates him for not winning.

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: "The Show Stealer" Rocco Bellagio (c) defeats "The Young Lion" Tyler Matrix. Matrix comes in with kicks and flips out on Rocco on the floor. He goes up top, but Rocco hits him. He has Matrix on his shoulders and drps him off. He hits a Plunge for a close 2. Rocco goes for another, but Matrix slides out and reverses into a twisting neckbreaker and swanton bomb for 2. He goes up again, but Rocco hits him. Rocco goes for a super Plunge, but Matrix slides down and powerbombs Rocco for 2! He goes for rolling thunder, but Rocco catches him for a Plunge. Matrix again slides out and hits a Pele kick. He connects with rolling thunder and crashes on another swanton attempt as Rocco moves. Rocco goes for a Plunge again, and again Matrix slides out. Matrix jumps off the ropes for a kick, but is caught in a Plunge for the 3.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Jade Dawson defeats Billy O following a low blow that the ref doesn't see and a DDT for the 3.
