GUEST STAR ON SMACKDOWN, CENA TALKS HOSTING SNL, WWE IN CHINA, ORTON TALKS SUMMERSLAM FINISH AND MUCH MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-12-08 20:04:00

WWE announced today that Gabriel Iglesias will be appearing on Smackdown Live next week as part of WWE Week.    Thanks to Steven Fernandes.

Randy Orton was interviewed by USA Today to promote his appearance on the USA Network's "Shooter" next week at this link.  It's a very good read.  Orton talked about a number of topics, including his five year old nephew TJ, who is fighting leukemia.  “He’s a little badass,” Orton said. “It’s going to be a long journey. That’s why I wear the bracelet and will continue to wear it.”  Orton also discussed his new team with Bray Wyatt.

On the Summerslam finish against Brock Lesnar, Orton commented, "I think with Lesnar, it’s always going to be him coming him every few months as a monster who destroys guys who work 200 days a year. There is a tendency for that to get old. I could have looked a little better that night and that would have helped me a lot regardless of the finish and not hurt Brock’s character at all. But the fact that you’re asking me about it three-four months later, means we created a buzz. But the fact that I had a concussion and was out for three weeks and wasn’t able to do anything pissed me off.  We say this a lot in the back when someone gets hit harder than intended, we knew what we were signing up for. It’s a rough sport. It’s a rough business and very physical. A few more people need to respect how things can go sour out there."

Reuters featured a piece on World Wrestling Entertainment's continued push into China, based around the signing of 22 year old Bin Wang (training at the WWE Performance Center currently) and other talents who have been signed and will come to the United States to train next year.  It was noted that WWE is still working on bringing the WWE Network to the country after coming to terms over the summer to live stream programming in Mandarin via online provider PPTV.  To read the complete piece, click here.

Earlier today, Dave Scherer posted the trailer to John cenma's film "The Wall" which will be released theatrically on 3/10/17 by Amazon Studios.  The film is described in promotional materials as "a deadly psychological thriller that follows two soldiers pinned down by an Iraqi sniper, with nothing but a crumbling wall between them. Their fight becomes as much a battle of will and wits as it is of lethally accurate marksmanship."  Directed by Doug Liman (“The Bourne Ultimatum,” “Edge of Tomorrow”), the film also stars Aaron Taylor Johnson (Quicksilver in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and the lead of Gareth Edwards' "Godzilla").

WWE's comic book, WWE: Now and Forever #1, is going back to press for a third printing under Boom! Studios.  Thanks to James Russell.
