During a segment for the live house in Joppa, Maryland tonight at EVOLVE 73, WWE's William Regal officially offered Tony Nese a WWE contract. Our own Dave Scherer had reported yesterday that Nese had been offered the deal, so this was the "official" offer. During the segment, Regal teased that there could be other signings to WWE, which led to a huge "Bro" chant in regard to Matt Riddle.
Chris Hero defeated Riddle in the third match of their trilogy of matches. Based on what we have heard about the feud, the plan appears to be that we'll EVOLVE build to a rematch down the line because it's been one of the best feuds in recent EVOLVE history. I would be shocked if they aren't rematched Wrestlemania weekend.
EVOLVE crowned new Tag Team champions in Fred Yehi & Tracy Williams as they won a four way over former champions DUSTIN and Chris Hero (substituting for the injured Drew Galloway), Tony Nese & Drew Gulak, and The Gatekeepers in an Elimination bout.
Gulak also worked the undercard, defeating Zack Sabre Jr. by submission. I was told that if you liked scientific wrestling, this was a lot of fun.
WWE NXT star Tommy End worked a dark match before the show, defeating Tracy Williams. End was sent by WWE to assist EVOLVE after Drew Galloway.
Other results from the show saw Ethan Page beat Chris Dickinson, Jason Kincaid beat Icarus and Jaka defeat Darby Allin.
With Joey Styles having been let go, Lenny Leonard handled commentary alone.
The training seminar before the show was said to have been great as William Regal gave everyone a lot of time to give them one on one critiques. ROH's Lio Rush, who lives in the Baltimore area, was among those at the seminar.
We heard from Ben Mitchell that the Flosports stream was excellent via AppleTV.
