GOLDBERG AND WWE POST-SURVIVOR SERIES, WRESTLING MAGAZINES IN 2016, WHO SHOULD HAVE BEEN WWE CHAMPION AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-11-11 10:00:00

I was at my local book store and was looking for pro wrestling magazines and couldn't find any....do any still exist?

Yes.  While the days of London Publishing having a seemingly endless amount of pro wrestling magazines are long gone, Pro Wrestling Illustrated is still published on a bi-monthly basis.  WWE has special magazines that they publish and there are several magazines out of the UK including Total Wrestling which can be found at some Barnes & Nobles stores.  So, the magazines still exist, but they are becoming a rarer breed due to the change in technology.  I greatly remember the excitement of getting the magazines while coming home from school growing up and I sincerely wish that someone at Pro Wrestling Illustrated would get a bunch of interns from a college, have them scan every page of the magazines and then place collections for sale on DVD.  I would personally love the hell out of that and would especially like to see their material preserved for the digital age.  Finn Martin has done a great job of converting a lot of his material from Powerslam in the UK as EBooks and I've really enjoyed those.  Hopefully Kappa Publishing can do the same.

Is Bill Goldberg going to be working for WWE going forward after Survivor Series?

Goldberg has stated that as of right now, it's a one and done deal.  My gut feeling is that this will have opened the doors to Goldberg being associated with WWE far more.  I can see the company putting him in the Hall of Fame this March over Wrestlemania weekend and from there, Goldberg having a relationship with them, especially when it comes to charitable efforts as it's always been something very important to him.  Whether he wrestles again, I don't know.

Any update on WWE acquiring new libraries?

It is something they are always on the lookout for, and I suspect it's a process that is always ongoing, but until we hear about anything concrete, I don't have any real answers on that front.

When you appear on The Taz Show or on Jim Ross' podcast, how does that happen?  Does PWInsider book you out?

No, it is quite simple.  They invite me and I come on.  The site does not actively seek out "bookings" for me.  That's not how the process worked.  In the case of The Taz Show, I've known Taz since the early 1990s and he invited me to have a spot on his radio show and it's been a lot of fun and something I really look forward to doing every week.  In the case of Jim's podcast or any others I have been on, it's usually that I was invited and was able to make the appearance.

Who's the one guy who should have been WWE champion but never was?

Roddy Piper.  To me, he should have had a run with the belt at some point and it's a shame that it never happened, because other than Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan, he was the most important person when it came to making WWF a national force.
