TOUGH ENOUGH STAR RELEASED BY WWE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-10-02 13:27:00

WWE has released Sara Lee, 24, who won the 2015 Tough Enough competition.  The release was initially reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet and has been independently confirmed by PWInsider.com.   Lee earned a $250,000 one year contract with the company in late August via her TE victory.  Lee, who entered the competition with a powerlifting background but was a novice to professional wrestling, was overwhelmingly popular with viewers of the show and voted the winner.

Lee and WWE NXT star Wesley Blake recently announced on social media that they were expecting their first child. PWInsider is told that Lee did not request her release and that the company made the decision to cut her from the roster.   Lee was informed Friday.

Lee's one year deal would have expired in late August/early September depending on when she officially signed it.  Her Tough Enough victory was 8/25/15.  She wrestled and lost to Alicia Fox that evening, making it her lone televised WWE bout.  Lee had not made her official WWE NXT TV debut but had been working live events.

Lee becomes the second member of the 2015 Tough Enough cast to be released, following ZZ Loupe.  2015 TE Male winner Josh Bredl, Mandy Rose (who has appeared on Total Divas and NXT since the competition), Daria Berenato (who recently made her NXT TV debut), Patrick Clark and Mada Abdelhamid remain part of the NXT roster, training at the WWE Performance Center.
