COMPLETE NEW JAPAN DESTRUCTION IN KOBE PREVIEW FOR TOMORROW

By Matthew Macklin on 2016-09-24 14:10:00

NJPW Destruction in Kobe is live on NJPWWorld.com at 16.00 JST (3AM EST/8AM UK) tomorrow morning (September 25th). The show is headlined by Michael Elgin defending the IWGP Intercontinental Championship against Tetsuya Naito.

David Finlay, Henare & Hirai Kawato vs. Will Ospreay, Beretta & Rocky Romero.

Yoshitatsu & Captain New Japan vs. Yujiro Takahashi & Chase Owens.

Togi Makabe, Tomoaki Honma & Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Tiger Mask IV & Teruaki Kanemitsu.

Yuji Nagata & Manabu Nakanishi vs. Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish.

NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Championship: Satoshi Kojima, Ricochet & Matt Sydal vs. Adam Cole & The Young Bucks.  It would be easy to forget who was holding these titles, and given how often they change hands anything can happen really. You'd have to imagine that Cole & The Bucks will take the titles as a way to establish Cole in NJPW.  He has teamed with The Bucks many times in PWG in the past, so they have incredible chemistry. This match could feel like Kojima being thrown into the middle of Reseda, California, which will be interesting.

Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii & The Briscoes vs. Kenny Omega, Bad Luck Fale, Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa.   Goto, Ishii & The Briscoes are about a badass of a four man unit that you can imagine.  Goto challenged Omega for the Wrestle Kingdom briefcase, but Omega flat out turned him down, so something will likely happen here to set up Omega vs Goto at King of Pro Wrestling on October 10th. The Guerrillas of Destiny made the challenge to The Briscoes for an IWGP tag title shot, so we will see those teams meet here too.

Hiroshi Tanahashi, KUSHIDA & Juice Robinson vs. EVIL, SANADA & BUSHI.   This is a continuation of Los Ingobernables de Japon vs the NJPW Babyfaces. This could be Tanahashi's chance to get revenge for his G1 loss to SANADA. We know LIJ often like to interfere in each other's matches, and with them hinting at a new member, this could just be a preview of a wild main event.

Kazuchika Okada, YOSHI-HASHI, Jado & Gedo vs. Naomichi Marufuji, Toru Yano, Atsushi Kotoge & Daisuke Harada.   This will see CHAOS member Toru Yano face off against his CHAOS team mates as he teams with his GHC tag championship partner, NOAH's Marufuji. Kotoge & Harada are the current GHC Jr tag champions and have an upcoming title defence against Jado & Gedo. Kotoge is also the new GHC Jr heavyweight champion. The big story here is Marufuji vs Okada, which will likely be the main event of King of Pro Wrestling.

IWGP Intercontinental Championship: Michael Elgin vs. Tetsuya Naito.   Naito scored a win over Elgin in the G1 Climax in what was one of the matches of the tournament, now Naito gets his shot at Elgin's IC gold. The story of this feud has been the knee of Elgin. Naito has attacked it at every turn, but in Hiroshima, Elgin showed that Naito will need more than that to beat him.  Ever since the departure of Shinsuke Nakamura, the IC title has lost its prestige that once saw it headline the Tokyo Dome.  Putting the title on Naito will add new life to the belt and give Naito something to sink his teeth into now that he is out of the heavyweight title picture.  There is also the hints of a new LIJ member to keep an eye on, so this could be a huge night for LIJ as they look to add a second title to the faction in the space of a couple of weeks.
