COMPLETE NEW JAPAN DESTRUCTION IN HIROSHIMA PREVIEW FOR TOMORROW

By Matthew Macklin on 2016-09-21 15:02:00

NJPW Destruction in Hiroshima is live on NJPWWorld.com tomorrow morning (September 22nd) at 17.00JST (4AM Est/9AM UK). This is the second of three Destruction shows.  Set for the show:

*Togi Makabe, Yoshitatsu, Captain New Japan & Teruaki Kanemitsu vs Satoshi Kojima, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Matt Sydal & Ricochet

*Yuji Nagata, Manabu Nakanishi, Tomaoki Honma & Tiger Mask IV vs Kyle O'Reilly, Bobby Fish, David Finlay & Ryusuke Taguchi

*Rocky Romero & Beretta vs Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa

As we see with the IWGP tag title match on this show, NJPW seem to be merging the junior and heavyweight tag divisions, or at least they're toying with this idea. This is a junior team in RPG Vice taking on a heavyweight team in The Guerrillas of Destiny, a match that could turn out to be a number one contenders match of sorts.

*Hirooki Goto & Tomohiro Ishii vs Yujiro Takahashi & Chase Owens

Again this could be about rebuilding the tag division. Goto & Ishii have been teaming a lot lately and a likely win here could see them step up and challenge for the tag titles. I think everyone would be more than okay with an Ishii/Goto vs Briscoes match.

*Hiroshi Tanahashi, Michael Elgin, KUSHIDA & Juice Robinson vs Tetsuya Naito, EVIL, SANADA & BUSHI

Los Ingobernables are in the middle of a takeover. BUSHI took the IWGP Jr title fro, KUSHIDA a few days ago at Destruction in Tokyo, so he will be out for some revenge here. Naito & Elgin have a title match three days after this is Kobe, so LIJ will be looking to make yet another statement here. This should be great.

*IWGP Tag Team Championship: The Briscoes vs The Young Bucks

History is being made here as the current IWGP Jr heavyweight tag team champions challenge for the IWGP heavyweight tag titles and could potentially end up holding both sets of gold. Both tag divisions have struggled with lack of teams and repetitiveness, so a merging of the divisions will add some much needed depth to the NJPW tag scene. The Bucks & Briscoes have wrestled a million times and it's never not great. On the big stage of NJPW, in a historic title match, both teams will be looking for everyone to take notice.  The Briscoes should retain.

*ROH World Championship: Adam Cole vs. Will Ospreay

Adam Cole returns to NJPW for the first times in two years and is bringing his newly won ROH title with him. This will be one of Cole's first defences ad he defends against one of the hottest properties in NJPW right now, The Aerial Assassin. Cole has been waiting for a long time to get back into NJPW, so he will be looking to steal the show and he has the right opponent to do it with. With ROH badly needing something fresh and exciting many people have called or ROH to put the title on Ospreay, but it's hard to see that happening with the likely path for Cole being a title feud with Kyle O'Reilly. This should be a superb match and a great reintroduction for Adam Cole to the NJPW audience.

*Kazuchika Okada vs. Bad Luck Fale

Fale scored a huge win over Okada in the G1 Climax and Okada now wants his in back. Fale & Okada have had really good matches before, and in the semi-main event spot, this should be no different. Okada should get his win back here as he marches on to a title defence against Naomichi Marufuji at King of Pro Wrestling in October.

*Tokyo Dome IWGP Heavyweight Championship number one contenders' rights: Kenny Omega vs YOSHI-HASHI

YOSHI-HASHI scored one of the biggest wins of his career when he beat Omega in a major upset on the opening day of B Block G1 Climax competition. The match was a show stealer. YOSHI showed how great he could be and Omega proved that he wasn't messing around in the G1. Now Omega must defend his Wrestle Kingdom title shot against the man the holds a win over him. YOSHI is going into this full of heart and fighting spirit. Japan loves an underdog, so YOSHI will have the crowd behind him in what is the biggest match of his life. If anyone guessed that YOSHI vs Omega would be main eventing an NJPW show a few months ago they should be doing the lottery. It's almost a guarantee that Omega wins, but YOSHI can raise his stock with another big performance.
