During tonight's edition of Smackdown Live from Uncasville, CT, WWE officially announced the creation of a Smackdown Women's championship as well as a Smackdown Tag Team championship. The new championships will have their first champions crowned at the WWE Backlash PPV in Richmond, VA on 9/11.
A tournament for the Tag Team championships kicked off during the Smackdown Live broadcast.
The Women's championship will be determined in a Six Pack Challenge featuring Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, Natalya, Naomi and Carmella.
Backlash will be the first Smackdown exclusive PPV since the WWE brand extension.
