USING THE INTERCONTINENTAL BELT AS A TOP WWE TITLE, WWE INSTITUTING LGBT STORIES, WWE FILMS ON NETWORK AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-08-19 10:00:00

You reported that Stephanie McMahon wants to integrate LGBT stories and characters in the WWE programing. Since this is the company that brought us Hot Lesbian Action (HLA) and Billy & Chuck, do you think they can bring LGBT issues in without being juvenile or pandering?

Yes, I do.  I think WWE is playing for a different audience and a different world now and their relationships and partnerships with groups like GLAAD will serve as a both a safety net and a sounding board to insure the company doesn't go for the lowest common denominator.

I know the I-C Championship has not been treated with prestige since the mid 90's however do you think that if the WWE had drafted the championship opposite the WWE title put emphasis on it as the "other" major title and drew off of it's rich history including historic matches and facts about the championship that it could be considered equally important to the WWE title on the opposite brand, instead of creating a championship that quite frankly is more suited for a backyard wrestling company?

I think it would have taken far longer for fans to see the championship and treat it as a belt on the same level as the WWE championship, but yes, I think it could have been done.  Lots of promotions have been able to make titles - even tag titles - become important drawing cards, even when there is a World title involved.

I'm entirely confused about the ongoing Hardy feud. I watched the campy as heck match from Final Deletion of Matt vs Jeff over the Hardy name, which Matt won. So why is TNA completely ignoring the stipulation that Jeff is no longer able to go by Hardy?

Well, he's been called Brother Nero by himself and Matt Hardy....so they haven't really.

Why hasn't WWE placed the WWE Studios films on the Network?

The films have rights locked up with different distributors and studios and those deals would preclude the company from placing them on the Network, but at some point, I would assume that some, if not all, will pop up in some fashion there.

Matt Hardy's wife looks familar - has she done anything else in wrestling?

She was a regular for Lucha Libre USA when it aired on MTV2 a few years ago.
