As we reported on Tuesday exclusively in the Elite section of PWInsider.com, WWE has commissioned a new Cruiserweight championship belt, so they will be instituting that championship for the Raw brand going forward. We have not heard a timetable for when that may happen, although the plan is to start showcasing Cruisers on that brand in September.
We have heard that WWE started making contract offers to a few Cruiserweight Classic talents two weeks ago. Some talents will be offered full-fledged deals while others will be offered NXT/developmental type deals. Others may be brought in a per-date basis as the company. The most notable name on a per-date basis thus far appears to be Kota Ibushi, who we have heard will be in for Summerslam weekend. One would assume that means he is working the NXT Takeover show, although that has yet to be announced.
It would appear based on the most recent episode of The Cruiserweight Classic series that Cedric Alexander has been offered a deal.
We have also heard that WWE has commissioned medals for the finalists of the CWC, similar to what Jim Kettner's ECWA used to do for their Super 8 tournament in Delaware.
