BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE FINAL DELETION, IMPACT DECISION COMING SOON AND MORE TNA NEWS

By Mike Johnson on 2016-07-07 11:11:00

There should be a decision made about how TNA will handle WWE Smackdown moving to Tuesdays anytime.

TNA is beyond thrilled with the overnight audience for Impact this week.  The series was 65th out of the top 150 cable shows that night and did a really good number for the company.

For those of you who have asked about the Final Deletion segment (which far and away, has been the most talked about Impact subject when it came to the actual content of the show in years), all of it was filmed on location at Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy's houses with Jeremy Borash overseeing a small production crew that drove from Nashville to North Carolina for the shoot.   Borash was the prime person responsible for the editing and direction of the segments, so if you loved it, it's on him.  If you hated it, you know who to blame.

The genesis for this type of material was Dixie Carter wanting there to be fresh content on the show that would be spoiler free, since if it was filmed in the ring, fans would be watching and the results would be leaked out.    TNA wanted to do something similar when they thought AJ Styles would be returning - film scenes with him and Kurt Angle in secret and theyn shock everyone by slipping them into the episodes without it being spoiled.

Everything used were props that were on hand at Matt Hardy's house with a lot of improvisation.  There was a lot of additional material filmed that wasn't used but could be incorporated.  All the drones that Jeff Hardy smashed were real.  The birthday party set-up was from Matt and Rebecca Hardy's actual party for their son Maxell.   Matt Hardy deserves a lot of credit for trying to do something unique and different, especially when he's at the stage of his life and career where he could be playing off "Version 1" Matt Hardy for the rest of his life.   A lot of what he's been doing has been all his vision and he's really immersed himself in the "Broken Matt" character.  His social media stuff alone has been off the charts.

Referee Kevin Keenan, who the Hardys knew from their time in WWE, was brought in from the Northeast for the spot at Matt Hardy's suggestion, but is not (yet) a TNA regular.  He was great, especially with his facial expressions.  Senor Benjamin is Reby Sky's father.  We also haven't seen the last of him within TNA storylines.    There's already a Senor Benjamin t-shirt at www.prowrestlingtees.com.

Given the way the audience number jumped, you can be pretty certain that TNA will be open to doing similar material from The Hardys' homes and other "on-location" material.
