BRYAN DANIELSON TALKS LIFE AFTER WRESTLING, SAYS HE STILL HAS DREAMS OF WRESTLING

By Mike Johnson on 2016-06-23 14:05:00

While he will be appearing tonight as an announcer for the first WWE Cruiserweight Classic taping, former WWE champion Bryan Danielson is still, months later, getting used to life without wrestling in the ring.

"It has been good, but it is weird, because my life had been so busy before retirement,” Danielson told The Daily World in Washington following an appearance at a local school.

“Now, you have all of this extra space and time. Because I was forced into retirement and not wanting to retire, I have to keep my mind away from wrestling. It is borderline painful. OK, so how do you fill your mind when you have filled it with this one thing for so long? I’ve experimented with gardening. I love it, but you don’t love it like that.  A part of my mind hasn’t accepted it.  I wake up sometimes with dreams of wrestling. This literally happened to me (the night before the speech). I was in Las Vegas and I flew in. I woke up this morning from a dream where I was going to wrestle and I’m not. I have to remind myself at times.”

Danielson stated that it was Vince McMahon who called upon him to officially announce his retirement and while he didn't want to do so, he and his wife Brie came to the realization that WWE would never clear him to compete "even if a million doctors" cleared him to perform.

The article noted Danielson has enrolled in classes at Arizona State University but that should WWE call, he has to drop everything as he is still under contract to the company.  He just completed a day of filming "Total Divas" earlier this week.

“Realistically, no one should feel bad for me,” Danielson said. “I am getting paid to figure out what I want to do. Who gets to do that?”
