MMA writer Ariel Helwani noted today on his Twitter account that the current plan for the debut UFC fight for former WWE champion CM Punk would be this September at UFC 203 in Cleveland, Ohio. That makes sense to me as it will be a PPV event and it doesn't make much sense to me to debut Punk without trying to use his pro wrestling pedigree to sell PPV buys.
Punk is slated to fight Mickey Gall in his debut.
Helwani wrote the fight is, "Far from a done deal but that's the direction as of this AM. "
