WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler and his fiancée Lauryn McBride appeared in court this morning in Memphis, TN to be arraigned on charges of domestic assault. They were instructed to stay away from and not have contact with each other in any way, shape or form. The next hearing in the case will be 7/1.
During an interview with WMC-TV last week, Lawler stated that McBride had been intoxicated and began arguing with him. She attempted to leave Lawler's home, leading to her preventing her so she didn't drive drunk. A call was placed by McBride to 911 but she hung up before speaking to them, leading to Memphis police arriving to investigate.
McBride claimed to authorities that Lawler had shoved her face against a stove and told her to kill herself when he brought a gun into the kitchen. Lawler, who had been scratched by McBride, claimed that she retrieved the unloaded gun from the garage and that he did not strike her. When police were unable to determine who was the aggressor, they arrested both.
Lawler has been suspended indefinitely by WWE until the case is resolved.
