JERRY LAWLER COMMENTS ON ARREST FROM JAIL

By Mike Johnson on 2016-06-17 11:58:00

Jerry Lawler was interviewed from jail this afternoon by WMC-TV in Memphis, TN, discussing the situation that led to his and his fiancee Lauryn McBride's arrest early this morning.

Lawler told WMC-TV that he returned from a wrestling booking last night and his fiancee was drunk when he arrived home.

"When she drinks we get into a little bit of a shouting match and then she wants to leave," Lawler told WMC-TV.  "I was not going to let her leave in the car, because she was not in any condition to drive. She got more and more upset."

Memphis police arrested both Lawler and McBride as they were unable to determine who was the aggressor in the situation. Lawler stated that McBride was the one who called 91l.

During the conversation with WMC-TV, Lawler denied McBride's claims that he hit her. He said that McBride retrieved the gun, which Lawler said was unloaded. He denied telling her to kill herself.

"It's just an unfortunate situation. Nobody was hit and nobody was hurt. It's just something that happened as a result of drinking too much," Lawler said.  "It's an unfortunate situation as a result of someone drinking too much. I'm saddened by it and hope we can get past this."

Lawler firmly placed the blame on the situation on McBride drinking too much and even stated that the week before, she was involved in a fistfight with members of her family after drinking too much at a gathering.

WWE has suspended Lawler indefinitely until the case is resolved.
