COULD WWE FORCE A CHANGE TO CODY'S NAME?, WHY CENA GETS A SERIES ON A RIVAL NETWORK, RYBACK AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-06-02 10:00:00

Could WWE block Cody Rhodes from using that name since he never used it prior to WWE?

I guess from a legal standpoint, they could try and prevent him, but given that it's a surname his father used professionally for decades, that sort of action would only make WWE look like complete bullies from a public relations standpoint.  I don't think they would go that route.

Any word on Bad News Barrett since he left WWE?

Barrett returned to Great Britain.  No word yet on his next step, but he noted he was taking time away from pro wrestling after his WWE deal expired.

I remember a few years ago reading in Chris Jericho's book that Vince McMahon didn't want him hosting a game show because it was on ABC, obviously not a partner with NBC.  Now, this year, John Cena gets to host his own series on FOX.  What changed?

Well, it should be noted that Jericho did host the series but even if he hadn't, at the end of the day, John Cena has the clout and the right to demand that he wants to take time off for an outside project.  He's certainly earned it and he's certainly made a ton of revenue for the company.  That comes with certain privileges.

Does WWE get a percentage of the revenue Ric Flair, Chris Jericho, Steve Austin make with their podcasts?

To the best of my knowledge, they do not.

Any Ryback updates?

As we noted in the Elite section of PWInsider last week, we are told there has been no real communication between the two sides and the belief is that Ryback's deal expires in late July and from that point, he will be free and clear to do whatever he wants.
