5/28 OVER THE TOP WRESTLING IN DUBLIN, IRELAND REPORT: MARTY SCURLL, BULL DEMPSEY, TOMMY END, LUTHER WARD & MORE

By Matthew Macklin on 2016-05-31 15:35:00

Results from OTT Even Better Than Better Than Our Best, May 28th, Tivoli Theatre Dublin:

Danny Butler defeated Dunkan Disorderly via DQ

A good opener with Butler unloading with all sorts of suplexes before Dunkan got DQ'd for hitting Butler with a cricket bat. Justin Shape made the save before he was taken out, leaving Dunkan to cut off a piece of Butlers beard. Dunkan is assembling quite the collection of beards.

Angel Cruz & The Fabulous Nicky defeated Terry Thatcher & The Ballymun Bruiser

Lots of hilarity here from Cruz as he continues to play Nicky into thinking they're on the same page.  Cruz got the pin when he stole the pin from Nicky.

Marty Scurll defeated Ryan Smile

This might be the best singles match to ever take place in OTT. This was Scurll's OTT debut as he faced one of the promotions top babyfaces. This was superb and a match you should go out of your way to see.  Lots of excellent wrestling, great selling and storytelling. There were some amazing sequences in this one. Scurll won via referee stoppage when he locked Smile in a Chicken Wing and elbowed him to a KO. After the match they agreed on a rematch.  Scurll is one of the best wrestlers in Europe right now and one of the best heels anywhere.

OTT Tag Team Championship: The Gymnasties (Sammy D & B Cool) defeated The Kings of the North (Corvin & Bonesaw)

The Gymnasties, usually a comedy team were the sentimental favourites here as they showed a more serious side after the beatdown they received from The Kings last month. The Kings made a big time entrance accompanied by Union Jacks, which got them incredible heat. The Kings looked like badasses here, which in turn made The Nasties even more sympathetic. The finish was really well done and played off of roll ups that The Kings have used to keep the titles for months. The Nasties win got an amazing pop and was a genuine feel good moment. People were jumping up and down and hugging.

After the match Workie returned and announced that he would be challenging for the tag titles next month with Colt Cabana as his partner.

Pete Dunne defeated Joe Coffey

This was a really hard hitting physical match. Coffey, known mostly for his work in ICW made his OTT debut here. This was The Iron Man vs The Bruiserweight. Both guys went all out and beat the hell out of one another. Dunne had some amazing feats of strength while Coffey showed amazing speed and agility for his size. Dunne won when he low blowed Coffey and hit him with Drop Dead. Another excellent match worth checking out.

Logan Bryce defeated Bull Dempsey

This was a a pretty short match which featured a brawl into the crowd and around the bar. Bryce picked up the win when he caught Bull throat first on the top rope and hit a lariat. After the match The Session Moth Martina saved Bull from an attack and hit Bryce with a satellite DDT. This led to Martina raving with Bull, which was an amazing sight.

OTT No Limits Championship: Luther Ward defeated Tommy End

This was another hard hitting match with a lot of striking. End had an incredible aura around him. His strikes are absolutely lethal and lighting quick. This match wasn't too long, but it was a sprint and had plenty of action. Both guys hit big moves and hit really hard. End hit lethal kicks and knee and Ward almost beheaded End with a couple of lariats. Ward won by submission with a crossface.

This was one of the best OTT shows in terms of top to bottom match quality. Smile/Scurll, Ward/End & Coffey/Dunne were all superb and as good as any three matches you'll see anywhere. The tag title match was a really cool story and a great feel good moment.
