By Mike Johnson on 2016-05-31 12:08:00

Former WWE star Cody Rhodes' first match after departing World Wrestling Entertainment will be for Northeast Wrestling's annual "Under the Stars" stadium show on 8/27 in Wappinger Falls, NY at Dutchess Stadium, facing former WWE and TNA champion Kurt Angle for the first time ever.

Angle was listed on Rhodes' checklist that was sent out on Twitter for post-WWE goals several days ago and Rhodes will have the chance to check the Olympic gold medalist off rather quickly.

The NEW event will also feature the very first-ever meeting of Japanese legend Jushin "Thunder" Liger and former WWE and TNA champion Jeff Hardy in the ring.

Also announced for the show are Matt Hardy, WWE Hall of Famers Jerry Lawler and Booker T, the former Hornswaggle,  Lucha Libre star Pentagon Jr., Sami Callihan, New Japan star Kamaitachi as well as NEW regulars TK O’Ryan and Brian Anthony with more to be announced.  Talents will be doing a meet and greet before the show.

The NEW Under the Stars show has always been a major event for the company and featured the final in-ring face to face meeting of Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper several years back as well as dream matches like The Hardy Boyz vs. The Young Bucks.  It was formerly held in Fishkill, NY
