Shane Helms is the next name announced for the Mid-Atlantic Legends Fanfest in Charlotte, NC this August in Charlotte, NC.  Helms will be hosting the annual Hall of Heroes banquet and induction ceremony.  Helms did a hell of a job emceeing last year.  The 2016 Class, thus far, are Dusty Rhodes, The Road Warriors, Paul Ellering, Baby Doll and Jimmy Valiant.

The NWA Big Apple promotion mentioned over the weekend on PWInsider.com will be promoted by Andrew Koloszuk (who wrestles in the NYC area as "The Re-Enforcer" Andy Anderson), Gino Caruso and Ebenezer Bowles.  Caruso runs the ECPW promotion and school out of Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey.   The NWA is claiming they will be expanding to Philadelphia and Milwaukee soon.  The promotion will present "Cajun Heat" on 7/2 at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium in Morgan City, LA.  Announced for the show is an appearance by Kevin Nash plus a lot of the NWA regulars as the card features NWA champion Jax Dane vs. Mustang Mike, Mid-South Unified champion Jeremy Moore vs. Matt Riviera, NWA National champion Greg Anthony vs. Americos, Rob Conway vs. Rodney Mack in a battle of former WWE stars and more.

New England Championship Wrestling will present one of their biggest events of the year, the 2016 Iron 8 tournament on Saturday 6/10 in Wakefield, MA at the Americal Civic Center with Slyck Wagner Brown, Brad Hollister, Chris Escobar, Todo Loco and Kevin Tibbs (who debuts for the promotion at this event) already announced as competing.   This has long been one of my favorite independent events of the year.   There are four first round matches with the winners going into a 45 minute Iron Man match where the person with the most pins or submissions is the final victor.  The main event is usually excellent.  For more, visit www.NECW.TV.

Apparently summer has become the unofficial Death Match tournament season as there are at least three I am aware of taking place in the Northeast over the next several weeks.  Ricky O's Game Changer Wrestling is presenting John Zandig's Tournament of Survival this Sunday 6/4 with John Zandig wrestling his first match in several years against Joey Janela.  MASADA, Danny Havoc, Scot Summers, Viking, Joker, Bryant Woods, Markus Crane and John Wayne Murdoch are competing.  Of course, CZW will have their annual Tournament of Death on 6/10 in Townsend, Delaware at the "Combat Zone" aka Markland Acre Farms.

Now, On Point Wrestling has announced they will hold the first annual "Sickest of the Sick" tournament on 7/16 at the Old Time Wrestling Arena (1041 Glassboro Road) in Williamstown, NJ with the first round featuring a Death From Above Match with Matt Tremont vs. Marc Angel vs. Devon Moore, a Fans Bring The Weapons Match with "Lowlife" Louie Ramos (who has apparently returned from retirement) vs, Jeff Cannonball, a Kitchen Nightmare Match with Drew Blood vs Danny Havoc and a Barefoot Pits of Destruction Match with Conor Claxton vs. Jimmy Lyon  The winners will advance to a "Fantastic 4 Way No Rope Barbwire Double Hell Elimination Match."  All of this will undoubtedly be shown down the line on DisneyXD.

Kevin Nash and Scott Hall are booked to appear for NWA Smoky Mountain Wrestling Evolution Sports Gym on 6/24 in Elizabethton, TN.  Buff Bagwell and Chase Owens are also scheduled for that show.  Bagwell will be in action while The Outsiders will be doing a pre-show meet and greet at the event.

The Powers of Pain, The Warlord and The Barbarian, will reunite for River City Wrestling in San Antonio, Texas at Retama Park (One Retama Parkway) on 6/3.  Hernandez of LAX fame and Lance Hoyt are also set to appear.

Gabe Ramirez' Pro Wrestling Revolution will present a "Reina de la Revolution" women's tournament on 6/4 in San Francisco, CA with Christina Von Eerie, Black Fury, Thunder Rosa, Brittany Wonder, Nicole Savoy, Lady Apache, Holidead and Cristal competing.

Rob Conway vs. Shawn Cook will headline the 6/4 Hoosier Pro Wrestling return to Columbus, Indiana.   HPW champion Vic the Bruiser vs. Lightning Bolt Johnson is also set for the show at the 4-H Fairgrounds.

As Paul Crockett wrote about during his coverage of Beyond Wrestling's events in Rhode Island yesterday, they promotion will make it's NYC debut on 6/17 as part of a combined event with Brian XL & Amazing Red's House of Glory in Jamaica, Queens.    Announced thus far is former UFC fighter turned EVOLVE star Matt Riddle vs Chuck O'Neil and billed as a House of Glory vs Beyond Wrestling bout, Sonya Strong vs Jordyyne Grace.

Colt Cabana will be wrestling for Brian Myers' Create-A-Pro at their school in Hicksville, Long Island on HELMS 6/5. Pat Buck, The Beaver Boys (John Silver, who is destined to be the next Spike Dudley-style little man who breaks out in my opinion & the vastly underrated Alex Reynolds) and Myers will also be on the show.

CZW star Matt Tremont will be promoting the debut event of H20, The Hardcore Hustle Organization on 6/10 in Woodbury Heights, NJ at the Community Center featuring himself against Kevin Sullivan, Shane Douglas vs. Eddie Kingston, Danny Havoc & Conor Claxton vs. Devon Moore & Drew Blood, plus Jigsaw,  Joey Janella, NWA Women's champiin Amber Gallows, Sozio, Stockade and former WWE star Tatanka making a signing appearance.   Tremont is als involved in New Jersey's On Point Wrestling and owns a wrestling memorabilia store in the Garden State, so he's really quite the hustler (in the positive sense of the word).

The Canadian Wrestling Federation in St. Catherines, Ontario will return on 6/18 with Rene Dupree vs. EVOLVE's Ethan Page and Cody Deaner vs. Rex Atkins in a Bullrope match.

Alpha-1 Wrestling in Canada will return 7/3 to Hamilton, Ontario at the Knights of Columbus with a show titled #ThePurge, obviously playing off of the film franchise of the same name.  For those who have never seen it, the central plot is that in an alternative United States, for 12 hours once a year, all crime is legal so citizens can "purge" their anger with the idea of it reducing crimes the rest of the year.  Thus, the theme of the event is that there are now rules.  The show will feature AlphaMale champion Heidi Lovelace vs. Veda Scott & Seleziya Sparx. Sparx was really clicking in ROH before an issue at the border kept her from entering the United States.   Also set for the show is  the promotion's GM Josh Alexander & a mystery partner vs. Hacker Scotty O'Shea & a mystery partner.  O'Shea looked really good at the House of Hardcore event in May. Dick Justice is also on the event.

New Breed Wrestling is now running weekly at the Wildside Arena in Humboldt, TN.
