By Paul Crockett on 2016-05-29 18:13:00

Beyond Wrestling "C5"
May 29, 2016
Aurora in Providence, RI

MATCH ONE: No Disqualification Tornado Tag Team Match - Dave Cole & Anthony Stone v. Da Hoodz (Davey Cash & Kris Pyro)
Tale of the Tape - This feud has been going for a few months, based on Da Hoodz jumping Cole back in February at this same venue.  Since then, it has been very personal, leading to this Tornado No DQ Tag Match.

The Match - It started before there was even an announcement to start the show.  They were outside of the ring brawling and ring announcer Rich Palladino was caught off guard mid-sentence.
This was a wild brawl all over the small venue which saw chairs and a cane involved.  Not since the days of ECW in Revere have I seen a match come out this deep into a crowd.  It was also filled with a lot of good double team spots.

The Finish - Da Hoodz got the advantage back and finished off Stone with a top rope Diamond Cutter/reverse Tiger Bomb combo.

WINNERS: Da Hoodz

MATCH TWO: Xavier Bell v. Conor Claxton
Tale of the Tape - There is no history between the two.  It's simply a match.

The Match - Xavier Bell wrestled Tommaso Ciampa the night before for Limitless Wrestling in Maine.  Therefore, his chest looked chopped to hell.  There was a great spot where Claxton teased going for another chop, but then went for a snapmare instead.
These two had a back-and-forth match, trading a lot of suplexes and wear down holds.  It then went into trading of some stiff shots, including a hard back kick by Claxton and a stiff leaping dropkick by Bell to a kneeling Claxton.

The Finish - Claxton went to superplex Bell, but Bell turned it around with what can only be described as a stupid, reckless, unnecessary headbutt that has no place in wrestling.  He followed it with a top rope Rock Bottom for the pin.

WINNER: Xavier Bell

MATCH THREE: The Cam-An Connection (Cam Zagami & Anthony Greene) v. Massage NV (Dorian Graves & VSK)
Tale of the Tape - There's no history between the teams leading into this.  It's more of a showcase for the wackiness that is Massage NV.  For those that have never seen them, they do a masseuse gimmick.

The Match - Graves & VSK went for spots that could double as an enjoyable massage. Needless to say, this match had more verbal and physical comedy than most.  As a structured tag team match, however, it was well done with Cam-An cutting off the ring on Graves.  VSK got a hot tag and did very good running wild with offense.

The Finish - Graves & VSK doubled up on Cam and hit a 3D into a codebreaker for the pin.

WINNERS: Massage NV

MATCH FOUR: "Cold Steel" Chuck O'Neil v. Brian Fury

Tale of the Tape - Chuck has been on a clear path toward a battle with Matt Riddle, whereas Fury has simply been wrestling the top talent in the promotion.  This is being billed as "Pro Wrestling v. MMA" given Chuck's status as a former UFC and current CES MMA fighter.

The Match - This was a very well done technical match.  O'Neil went to work on Fury's left arm early, and in the end, it ended up being a key factor.  Not only was there a lot of trading on the mat, but there were also some great exchanges on their feet.  O'Neil showed poise for being so inexperienced, and Fury continued his run as a technical and psychological genius.

The Finish - Fury had a deep Boston Crab on Chuck, but he kept selling the damage to his left arm.  That caused him to not be able to hold onto the move anymore.  Chuck transitioned that into an armbar and into a modified Rings of Saturn for the submission win.

After The Match - O'Neil stated he would be sitting ringside for the next match between Riddle and Ciampa to make sure Riddle wouldn't pull anymore crap.

WINNER: Chuck O'Neil

MATCH FIVE: Tommaso Ciampa v. Matt Riddle

Tale of the Tape - This was dubbed as "First Time Ever" to give it special meaning.  Before the match, Ciampa made sure ring announcer Rich Palladino told the crowd he has proper wrestling boots, unlike Riddle who goes shoeless.

The Match - I say this in a positive way: this match went the way I thought it would.  Really, REALLY hard hitting exchanges between the two, with Tommaso's chops met with Riddle's kicks.  Ciampa also started working over the foot of Riddle by stomping on it and then biting it, much to the shock of the crowd.

The Finish - These two brutalized each other for a good ten minutes.  Ciampa threw everything he had at Riddle, including a Project Ciampa that Riddle kicked out of.  Ciampa hit a big top rope White Noise that Riddle instantly transitioned into an armbar.  Ciampa got the rope for the break, but Riddle wouldn't let go.  That brought in O'Neil, who started to fight with Riddle.  The ref called for the bell.

After the Match - A lot of the locker room came out to break them all up.  Ciampa received a standing ovation.  This was the best Matt Riddle match I have seen live, and he has improved significantly in the last six months alone.

INTERMISSION

MATCH SIX: Women's Wrestling Revolution Showcase - Jordynne Grace v. LuFisto

Tale of the Tape - Grace has had a long run against male talent in Beyond, whereas LuFisto is debuting. Both compete for the Women's Wrestling Revolution, which debuted a couple of months ago, and has another show coming up at the end of July.

The Match - Early on, it started with more of a mat wrestling exchange rather than power (as would be expected with these two).  Things started to change when Grace was getting the better of the exchanges and asked LuFisto, "I thought you were supposed to be the best?"

LuFisto regained the advantage and slowly started breaking Grace down with strikes, submission attempts and and various holds.  Grace went for a couple of comebacks, but was expertly stuffed by LuFisto.

The Finish - They exchanged a few nearfals when LuFisto finished Grace with a Misawa-style Tiger Bomb.

WINNER: LuFisto

MATCH SEVEN: "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams v. Suge D

Tale of the Tape - Suge D has been on a losing streak and has been determined to break it.  He and Williams have been trading barbs on Twitter, as Suge D is one to do, so he's looking to break the streak against "Hot Sauce."

The Match - The feeling out process was going hard in the early stages of this match.  A lot of hold exchanges and some stiff shots between the two, with "Hot Sauce" getting the better of it.  Williams spent a lot of time stretching Suge and continuing to build up the heat with Suge trying like hell for comebacks.

The Finish - Suge kept getting brief comebacks, but Williams finished it with a piledriver.

After The Match - Suge D got on the mic and said he busts his ass and does everything for these people, and some people were chanting "one more time."  So he said if people just want him to see him get his ass kicked for their amusement, he said "f--- it!"

WINNER: "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams

MATCH EIGHT: Grudge Match - "The Product" David Starr v. "The Bad Boy" Joey Janela

Tale of the Tape - These two both returned during last month's show in Somerville and looked like they were ready to team up.  Instead, they turned on each other and brawled through the crowd.  That leads to this match.

The Match - As Starr was taking off his jacket, Janela kicked Starr in the face REALLY hard.  And we're off.

These two had a heated pace from beginning to end.  Starr hit two really nice tope's in a row before being cut off by Janela with an elbow.  Say what you want about Janela, but he elicits a genuine hatred from the crowd and played it up properly.

The Finish - Starr went for another tope later on in the match, but was again cut off by Janela.  "The Bad Boy" then turned it into a suplex on the outside.  It should be noted there is no padding.  That led to a double countout.

After The Match - They brawled all the way to the outside.  Literally.

WINNER: Double Countout

Brandon Watts, who this show is assisting with medical bills, came to the ring for an interview with Rich Palladino.  He said he feels great to be able to even stand, let alone stand in the ring.

Before things could finish, the Crusade For Change entered the ring and surrounded Watts.  It didn't last for long, as their opponents for the next match stopped them...

MATCH NINE - The Crusade For Change (TJ Marconi, Darius Carter, Tommy Trainwreck, Devin Blaze and Anthony Gangone) v. Team NYWC (Anthony Nese, Randy Summers, Stockade, Rex Lawless and Blake Morris)

Tale of the Tape - Crusade For Change has been attempting to tear through everyone in Beyond.  They had also been calling out Watts on Twitter saying they didn't care about his injury.  This prompted his partner Randy Summers to bring in reinforcements.

The Match - It started off as a chaotic brawl in and out of the ring including the obligatory tope onto everyone at ringside.  After a few minutes, however, it returned to the ring for a (as much as a ten-man can be) traditional tag match.

The Crusade For Change got the heat on Anthony Nese and utilized a lot of quick tags to work him over.  It wasn't enough as he was able to make the hot tag to Summers, who ran wild.  His wildness was short lived as he was cut off and CFC then turned the heat on him.

The Finish - Summers ran the table on C4C and had their leader Dorian Graves cornered.  He got distracted by Gangone and Carter used that opening to chop Summers' throat.  Watts went to throw in the towel, but it got caught and thrown out of the ring.  Not a great spot since the ref saw it and can assume he was throwing in the towel without it having to hit the mat, but that's what happened.  The CFC then spike piledrove Summers for the victory.

WINNERS: Crusade For Change

MAIN EVENT: Jonathan Gresham v. John Silver

Tale of the Tape - Both men have been incredibly impressive in Beyond, making this a natural matchup that fans have wanted to see.

The Match - The two went to the ground with a lot of exchanges early on, which morphed into a brief arial battle and a stand-off that got a nice round of applause from the crowd.  That again morphed into what was expected from the two with really hard kicks and chops.

While they hit each other hard, they also did a great job of doing interesting mat work and believable suplexes/slams to keep the match fresh and dynamic.  Gresham used a distraction to go low on Silver, which only prompted Silver to fire up and get a nearfall.

The Finish - After a number of reversals on the mat, Gresham got Silver in a crossface for the submission win.

WINNER: Jonathan Gresham

Overall, a very good show honoring Brandon Watts, even if he had to watch his partner eat a spike piledriver.  It will be interesting to see where that storyline progresses!  Stay tuned to the site for coverage of the second show, "GIGANTIC!"
