Judge Vanessa L. Bryant, the presiding Judge in the ongoing WWE lawsuit involving WWE's alleged lack of protection when it came to performers in regard to their health, specifically concussions, CTE and other head-trauma related injuries ruled today that WWE Executive Stephanie McMahon-Levesque will be deposed in the lawsuit brought against the company by former WWE wrestler Vito Lo Grasso and former WWE developmental talent Evan Singleton.
While WWE had argued against Levesque being within the scope of those being deposed, noting that the Plaintiffs had not given any legitimate reason for her deposition when others (listed below) were being made available to them, Judge Bryant ruled:
"WWE made Levesque available previously to testify before Congress on issues related to the safety of its wrestlers. Although the Court rejected Plaintiff's fraudulent misrepresentation claims on the basis of that testimony, WWE has not demonstrated that Levesque is not an appropriate deponent on the issues of whether WWE had a duty, and whether that duty was breached, to disclose knowledge of long term health risks caused by repeated head trauma. The parties are ordered to work cooperatively to schedule a deposition based on the witness' availability, which may be conducted up to fourteen days after the current discovery deadline."
Vince McMahon (scheduled for tomorrow 5/27) and Paul "Triple H" Levesque (on 5/31) will also be deposed in regard to the lawsuit. WWE medical doctor Chris Amann and Chris Nowinski, an expert on CTE and a former WWE performer who heads up the Concussion Legacy Foundation, will also be deposed.
Dr. Joseph Maroon, who heads up the WWE Wellness Policy, was deposed on 5/20. Attorneys for Lo Grasso and Singleton have pushed for a continued deposition of Maroon, which WWE has argued against.
