BLOOD REMAINS OBSTACLE PREVENTING WWE PPVS & TV FROM COMING TO KENTUCKY

By Mike Johnson on 2016-05-26 19:28:00

The Courier-Journal in Kentucky featured an article yesterday on the new Kentucky Wrestling & Boxing Commission and the obstacles that have prevented World Wrestling Entertainment from bringing PPVs, Raw and Smackdown to the Bluegrass State and how the new Commission is working to change them.

One of the primary issues is a rule on the books that calls for the stopping of any match if a wrestler is accidentally cut and bleeding and not preventing the talent to continue until the blood has been stopped.

While WWE has long removed blading from what they allow, blood does occasionally happen accidentally, usually resulting in referees and medical officials pausing the bout to adminster attention towards stemming the flow of blood and cleaning off competitors.  WWE also has multiple mats on their ring so that a mat can be removed for sanitary reasons in quick fashion between matches so the matches that follow don't have to worry about contamination from blood.

In a statement to the Courier-Journal, WWE told the newspaper: "Under the existing rules in the state of Kentucky, WWE is unable to produce our televised entertainment events in a manner that is consistent with other states. Working with the new Commission, we hope we can return to Kentucky with live WWE televised events, including Monday Night Raw, SmackDown and our Pay-Per-Views."

The article noted that there is hope of bringing a televised WWE event to the State in April 2017.
